Post How do I change a link to an existing forums install? Posted: Fri May 18, 2007 5:57 pm

Hello there, well I'm a total php noob but I'm trying to learn as fast as I can.

I've installed php-nuke 7.9 on my website via Fantastico. Now this comes with a forum installation.
Problem is I already have a forum installed that I don't want to lose so how do I point the link to my existing forums and not the newly installed one?

Like I said I'm very new to this so if there's any other information you require I'll do my best to oblige.

Hi,

There are lots of people who have run into the same problem.
Check these links out:

for a discussion on what method is best, linking to the existing forum or integrating the existing forum into your new site see:
phpBB integration with php nuke discussion

or for a detailed step by step how to tutorial read:
phpBB 2.0.10 -> PHP-Nuke 7.6 database converter *SOLVED*

There seems to be a database converter available:

phpbb2pbpnuke converter

Hope this helps
Give a yell if you need any help

Thanks for your prompt reply brceoz. I've had a long hard look at the help available via your links but alas, it has me completely baffled.
It would take me far too long to even understand the process let alone complete it sucessfully. Is there another way of just linking to my forums without burying the link too deep in the website somewhere?

In order to change the dynamic link to the forum that is displayed in the Contents block (eg: http://www.yourdomain.com/modules.php?name=Forums) to a static link to your existing forum (eg: http://www.yourdomain.com/forum) you are going to have to edit the Modules.php file.

Here is a link you may find helpful:
How to change the Forums link in the Modules block

What is the url to your site? can you include it in a reply so we can check it out....

Thanks once again brceoz, that link was what I needed. Not having php-nuke installed in the root gave me a problem with the modified block-modules text but I cheated with a timeline redirect, dispite my hacking and slashing it works now, many thanks m8 Embarrased
