Post Indy news and flv solved Posted: Mon Dec 12, 2011 12:18 am

Most of the people like me don't want to use new versions of PHPNUKE because there is no module like IndyNews, but in that module we didn't have flv player.
First of all problem was because this can't work with any flv player like jwplayer or something else. We need to replace somefile.flv with <:FILENAME:> Problem is that when we use something like
this system can't work.

Code:
<embed
  flashvars="file=somefile.flv&autostart=true"
  allowfullscreen="true"

  id="player1"
  name="player1"
  src="player.swf"
  width="480"
  height="270"
/>

Basic problem is because player accepts string we get from <:FILENAME:> as commands or something and <:FILENAME:> looks like this modules.php?name=IndyNews&MediaOp=show&idMediaAss=s6&MediaName=somefile.flv&MediaNum=1

So here is problem with URL encoding, and we need to replace all of the .?&= signs to encoded ones. So in modules/IndyNews/Index.php on line 769 we can find path related to this and change the encoding of signs. Also need to add http:// and the address so that line for http://127.0.0.1/nuke/modules?..... should look like

[code]
$imghref="http%3A%2F[code]%2F127%2E0%2E0%2E1%2Fnuke%2Fmodules%2Ephp%3Fname%3D$mname%26MediaOp%3Dshow%26idMediaAss%3D$idMediaAss%26MediaName%3D$MediaName%26MediaNum%3D$MediaNum%26ImgWs%3D$templTagW%26ImgHs%3D$templTagH"; //majsta video
[/code]

Now we have situation that we upload video in flv to indynews system detect that flv extension and start flvplayer.swf who uses <:FILENAME:> for detection of file and on that line 769 we tell <:FILENAME:> where to find media file with encoded url.

I too have not heard of this Ped..

Ive been using Nuke versions for some time also, and although i have never gotten into the modding of the packages to much.. i havnt heard of this.. so i researched a little..

IndyNews seems to have been a mod for PHP Nuke 6.0 .. dating back to 2004.. in PHP Nuke 7.0 it appears they left it out. Joomla have also picked up the script of IndyNews to run on Joomla CMS however i havnt touched Joomla so i wouldnt know..

Anyway i couldnt actually find what it did.. but i can only imagine its just like the News mod in Evo / xtreme ..

being anything that old, I can tell the security is not up to date and running out dated scripts, especially how far out dated they are is a problem waiting to happen.

Not to update to a new CMS because a module that is out dated is a stupid reason not to update IMO. I been looking for the most up-to date release of that module and I can't find anything that was released after 2002.

As you stated,

I don't know anyone running that old of a CMS. If your looking for something that is more up-to-date and gives you a module that may be similar, you may want to look into Evo Extreme 2.0.9d. But running scripts that are way out-dated are dangerous and really need to be addressed. Either a full re-write of the module or try out the other CMS. I mean, after reading about it, it seems to be a worse off version of the news module for the current nuke. All you need to do on the new versions of Nuke is make sure your using the tinymce_3_2_7 or what ever your version of Evo has. The editor allows almost everything, including to change the source code to HTML where you can manually edit in your own HTML.

TO set that off of BB-Code, all you need to do is go into your ACP -> Configuration -> Miscellaneous Options -> and change the "Text Area:"

I must agree with corpse, running PHP-Nuke version 6.0 in 2011 just sounds like a disaster to happen. I would even go as far as to compare it to operating a steam train on the TGV line...

to shed a little more light on the problem of WHAT THE HECK IS INDYNEWS? I googled aswell and it comes down to this:

IndyNews is a PhpNuke add-on that allows users to include media files
(images, documents and so on) to articles.

Clicky Me!

So in other words, it is something which is highly outdated, as you can actually submit images in news posts anyways with Raven's PHP-Nuke version 2.40.01 (I don't know if it requires bbmod)

I would say: UPDATE!
