Hi all,

I'm currently working on an idea to create a pre-edited package for RavenNuke.
This would include the bbcode extension (so that people can embed youtube video's in forum posts) for all the free themes i can find over this website and other websites who are legit Nuke-resellers (nothing like PHPnuke-downloads.com hate them pirating buggers).

I also would like to include all free modules that I can find over the web.
some good ones are located here: www.udesigns.be (very trustworthy coder with good support)

The question is however, would you be willing to post this package for others to have a smoother experience installing Raven Nuke? So that they don't have to find the ins and outs like I had to do in the past.

It would make life easier for many clans out there willing to make a proffessional website, but lacking the skills or time to learn it all. The Nuke community has been good to me, it's time for me to do something back

Ive thought about it as well lots of times...

There is nothing stopping you doing this as PHPNuke is GPL but just tip your hat and let people know your intentions...like you have done hear, what ever you do; do not use paid for modules, you will turn the community against you.

With regards to the idea, its great... what puts me of personally is the updates, what happens when RN updates there package ???

The only things I have personally thought of doing is releasing a RN forums package with heavily modded forums, I think that's why Xtreme is so popular because it has heavily modded forums as standard

well thats the thing. I'm using Raven Nuke 2.40.01 which is a stable release. I personally haven't had any problems with attacks or whatsoever. Neither do I think that Raven will be releasing much more new versions, because this version 2.40.01 is such a stable release allready. side note: Raven Nuke 2.40.01 has been released on 29 march 2010, so that's nearly 2 years ago.

and the bbcode extension I was planning on modding in the pre-modded package would be the bbcode extension for version 2.30.xx by Loki which works flawlessly on my 2.40.01 website

with regard to the paid modules, I was never intending on including those in the package. I know the GPL and Creative liscense prohibit me from spreading modules like these, so I was never intending to.

Perhaps we could work together on this project, seeing as you allready have thought about this aswell? perhaps make a list of what modules would be nice to include (if not all just because we can). There are lots of stable releases of modules around which don't get updated all too frequently, so it might be worth it to look into

more feedback is welcome :)

Well I know Ravens Nuke is releasing v2.5 next but I have no idea on the timeline, so maybe ask on the RN forums see if they can give a forcast

Hi!

I received word from Raven, he said he will probably be releasing RN 2.5 in 2 weeks if all goes according to plan. It should be released by the end of the year at max. He's having some recurring health problems so it might be delayed (thats why it has been delayed allready). Perhaps we could take a look into doing a pre-modded 2.5 package? together, once it is released?
