Hi,

I'm a somewhat experienced Web Designer, I've worked with PHPBB in the past, mainly for old WoW guilds and such.

I've recently taken on a project with some friends to re-build an old gaming community and I'm looking to push it into a CMS / Forum, preferably something with a Portal atleast.

I work daily with Wordpress, but I'm not satisfied with the Forum extensions available for WP.

So I've come here to ask advice from people more involved in this style of development; which PHPNuke platform would you recommend?

There's Evo and PHPNuke-Clan (PNC) and others.. having never worked with PHPNuke before I find myself fairly lost in what direction to go.

I'm looking for forums, a home page / portal that can post news, keep track of members, and possibly showcase some other stuff as well, maybe an Admin roster? I can easily do the roster in HTML/CSS so that aspect won't need to be dynamic..

The clan will be mainly BF3, but might migrate to D3 down the road.

Also, I've heard there are security issues with PHP-Nuke, what do these issues entail exactly?

Evo Extreme will be your best option.

With basic phpnuke there is security issues. But with CMS systems like RavenNuke and Nuke Evo Extreme, those holes and issues have been taken care of along with added security of Sentinel.

As Noto said, for a gaming community, Nuke Evo Extreme is your best bet for they have lots of pre-installed mods on it that is beneficial to the gaming communities.
