Ok I owe some one a favour

They want a website biulding, there going to pay for hosting domain ect ive just got the hard part !

The biggest problem I have is what CMS to build it on

My main concern is that THEY want to manage it and ADD content themselves, its a site for a doctors surgery, no personal patient info or user interaction is needed it is mearly for surgery announcements/news and public reports to be posted in a separate page / area periodically.

The next problem is they don't have a clue about HTML or websites...

I have kind of narrowed the list down to a few CMS

1) Concrete5 >> http://www.concrete5.org/ - main concern with this is its still not that easy to add content, its a bit too technical, if that makes sense, but its a good contender. Ive only ever made one theme for concrete and I didn't find it that easy.

2) Word Press >> We all know about wordpress, my only worry is they don't want a blog type site, never made a theme for wordpress though

3) Ravens Nuke >> Once ive set it up it should be plain sailing, don't need forums though, theme should be no problem.

Now I was going towards Concrete5 initially, but if I could get Ravens Nuke stripped down I think it could work... I might call in a few favours to make a new home page layout similar to Clan Themes

Thoughts or suggestions please people... I didn't know who else to ask

Anyone ever tried stripping down Ravens Nuke ?

Like I wont need the forums, downloads, weblinks, Advertising, Comments, Encyclopaedia, Calender ect ect ect

I might have a go, I know the forums might be needed for signups though, but if it was only required for admins to sign up I wonder...

I basicly just want the News, Articles, Content, Sentinal maybe the odd other

To take your contenders one at a time;
Concrete5. - I wouldn't use it. It's a brilliant system but if (as is always the case) the client needs extra functionality adding, you are going to be in for a steep learning curve!

Wordpress - I have installed it for clients and they always gripe about it not being intuitive to use (from an administration perspective) so I don't use it any more unless the client specifically asks for it. It's probably a bit overkill for what you need any way.

RavenNuke - You could remove most of the modules (and corresponding block files and database entries) without hardly any issues (if any).
The only modules you'll have a nightmare with is the Forums - you'll have to leave that in and just set the access permission to admin. It isn't required for registrations etc but it still has too many tentacles touching other files for it to be completely removed.

If they just want it for news, articles and basic 'pages' of text, you should take a look at Ionize CMS. Although it is still in it's infancy (and uses the Code Igniter Framework) it is pretty lightweight (size wise), multi-lingual, seo friendly and most importantly, it's a doddle for anyone to administer. I used it for a school website a couple of years ago as the owner is pretty pc-iliterate (struggles to even use web based email) and she found it really easy to use.

I managed to strip down RN and took the forums out as well, no one was going to be registering on the site so I just got rid of it all

As for Ionize CMS, it looks great.. I just looged into the admin area and had a play... seems very easy to manage indeed, thanks for the heads up

Yeah, I really like Ionize myself - just wish it came with a Contact form out of the box (there is a free add-on). Theming is an absolute doddle as well. On one site I recently installed it on, the client asked me to develop a theme similar to ... and provided a link to a site.
2 hours later he had an identical theme (using Open Source images of course).
