I think i must be doing something completely wrong because the install process is not populating the database i made.

Step 1!!
Open modules/Clan_Roster/lib/constants.php and change the DSN_STRING info.
You will also find many more options towards the bottom

Step 2!!
Upload the contents of the html folder to your nuke root

Step 3!!
You need to chmod the following folders to 777
modules/Clan_Roster/app/Roster/public/images/games
modules/Clan_Roster/app/Roster/public/images/members
modules/Clan_Roster/app/Roster/public/images/members/thumbs
modules/Clan_Roster/app/Roster/public/images/ranks
modules/Clan_Roster/app/Roster/public/images/ribbons
modules/Clan_Roster/templates_c

Step 4!!
Run the installation script

now that i type in that address, theres a link that tells me to install. I click that link and it shows a long string of numbers. wich i copy...I am then directed to this website to validate . It and gives me another code that i type into a text document called licdata......I upload that to licences folder...then what? at that point I look at my database and its completly empty. dosen't the program have to install an sql file? If so, there was no instruction
any help would be appreciated

Once you have the license file and uploaded it, then go back to the installer and it will finish the install.

ok....im not trying to make this more difficult than it is....is there supposed to be a link to take me to the next step....or do i refresh the page?

The link to install clan roster 2.0 is there but the link dosn't work..... I tried to refresh the page....it takes me to a different page with a link that says install clan roster 2.0... but the link dosen't work there either

on another note:
the video tutorial to install clan roster is not working on phpnuke downloads

EDIT:
In the public_html/modules/Clan_Roster/lib/constants.php, make sure you have the DB tables the same as the ones you find in the public_html/config.php. It should go right into the same DB as your nuke site.

Just a question of clarification on my behalf.

Is this a problem with the module coding, an incorrect link, or the shop program intervention?

I'm just curious, it just appears that this module has been plagued with odd problems. I'm not bashing the program or anyone, again, just curious...

If you read whats going on, its just one problem. The problem comes down to user error. I just had fixed 3 sites where they were saying the same error as this guy and it all came down to user error. Putting in wrong DB information. The module's ONLY problem is that t3gaming.net is closed, which had the version checker script, so now in the ACP, it showed the error message. Ped just released a fix so that problem seems to be taken care of.

Can't call user error a problem with the module for it's the operators job to read and follow instructions which has been proven to me 3 times in the past few days that it seems to be something that's to hard to do.

I had this problem this morning

Its missing the ribbons database table

This is the install process I did today

1) uploaded the Clan Roster v2.0 (full instillation) and ran the installer.php to create the licence.txt (should install fine)
2) uploaded the CR2 2.0 to 2.01 Update [116.8 KB] and run the installer, select "Fresh Install"
3) I then got the error you were getting when viewing someones profile, so i tried various things
4) uploaded both the "HotFixes" CR2 Hotfix 11.06.08 [12.8 KB] CR2 Hotfix 01.14.09 [5.4 KB]
5) I still had the error so I re-run the CR2 2.0 to 2.01 Update [116.8 KB] and this time selected "Update" which installed the "ribbons" database table

Error was gone Wink

So in this instance jonathan9473 just re-uploaded the CR2 2.0 to 2.01 Update [116.8 KB] from the shop and re-run the installer.php and select "update" from the option and you will be fixed.

Dread, again I'm not bashing the program. I'm just an inquisitive person... don't hate =P lol

I have worked on some sites that had this module, I just never tinkered with it in depth. What I did see I liked. I've often thought about purchasing it, but then, until I set down and view its usefulness on a website I'm hosting, purchasing it out of the question.

I cringe at the times in the past where I bought a music dvd for 20 bucks just to find out the only song worth a hoot was the one hit song at the top of the charts at the time, lol.

And, it's good to know this was user error...

Also, I noted the reference to "updates" which raises another question, Is there an updated version that doesn't require the patches? If no, will there be in the near future? I'm asking for knowledge, in case I get asked. I don't know how many times I've sent people back to websites telling them to ask in the forums, lol.

With it having ioncube as well doesn't help because different versions of php have caused it problems in the past and then the different versions of nuke too, but I think in contrast it is still a dam fine module. Floppy was working on a new Clan Roster but I think all in all he has decided to drop it because of other time commitments.

The only thing in my eyes that he needs to do is make 1 new main install with the updates and database updates, this would stop any confusion for new customers doing a new install, or he needs to make new clear instructions of the complete install process to stop any confusion because the current install instructions are outdated and do not work.
