I have been thinking of a MW3 theme, built on the popular BF3 template but with a very nice style changer covering all the latest MW games, so a it would be 3-4 themes in 1

in the header I was going to place a changer so the user could choose

Call of Duty in General
MW3
MW Black Ops
MW2

So what ever game they prefer or theme they can choose it

The switcher works on cookies so it would remember there choice.

I've got the switcher working to change the style.css sheets which changes the themes images as well, the only problem im having is the images don't change until a page refresh is done, which is annoying me.

Ill keep playing but its only an idea at the mo Embarrased

Thanks for the reply Ped. Funny you mention the style/theme changer. I recently inquired at evolution-xtreme.com about modifying the existing block in the nuke package to do exactly what you are talking about.

I think bundling a theme switch is great, but would also like to see it sold/distributed separately. It is a great idea to bundle the themes for the COD and MW series. I am sure some clans support the entire series. My clan is a little different....we support games from various series and would want the theme changer to work for all of our themes. Currently I have the themes block switching between three themes from here, and two others from another design site. All in all, it gives my clan members the option to skin it how they please and is very attractive to potential users.

I hope your MW3 theme is agnostic of the previous COD bundled themes too. My clan does not play the legacy versions, as we will focus on the latest games going forward.

Good luck with your design, as I will use the BF3, MW3, CODBO, and Crysis2 on my site.

How would the block incoporate the theme switcher ?

I will be coding a side block to switch styles as well, ive got it all working ATM on my test site...

As I say the only problem im having is it doesn't change the images until a page refresh is done which is daft because not everyone will think its worked until they navigate to another page

Ped, I don't know it for sure, but isn't the new MW3 going to allow stats support for the PS3 and Xbox versions? If so, what about adding a box to display the clan stats that would interract with that. I hope I am making sense here, but I would have added one for COD Black Ops, but there isn't any support from 3arch to allow that. I am hoping, and from what I have read, it will allow and support it, unless I am misunderstanding it. I also like that theme switcher idea, that sounds really cool.

I have no idea, but it couldn't be built until the stats are released by Activision

And with the stats coming from a 3rd party its obviously something that I couldn't sell or offer support on so it gets a bit risky

Yeah, I don't know all the ins and outs of it, but I think that players will be able to access their stats via the pc, which could open a door for clans to maybe RSS feed it to their sites or something like that. I don't know how or if they are going to do it, so I guess we will all wait and see.

Also, how long do you think it will be before your MW3 them comes out? Not rushing it, just looking forward to seeing it. Could you Add more stuff for clans this round, more then you did with Black Ops? Maybe throw in a Splash Page? That would be cool.

Im kinda stalled on it at the moment, trying to get this style switcher worked out... its bugging me !

I have it changing style sheets no problem 4 in fact so that's 4 different looking themes in 1, which is very nice but the images wont change until you do a page refresh which is the bugging part

I have included a splash screen in the last 2-3 themes I have made and I will try to include one if I remember.

If I cant get the switcher to work 100% with images as well, then I will just release a MW3 theme in due time, the game is still 6 months away so no huge rush... I would however like to get it done in the next 6 weeks Wink

Well I did get it working yes, but only the styles not the images

I think its a little premature just yet as I need to do some more tweaking on it

I am 80% done on a MW3 theme though, its based similar to the BF3 theme but its a floating theme !!!! meaning its a full width theme, a first for me !!

Its looking extremely nice so far
