i am new to all this website building stuff
i am lookin for someone to update my phpnuke from 5.5 to something newer and install a theme for me

phpnuke 5.5? how old is your site?

As for upgrading your site. Are you looking at keeping all users and what not, for I don't know if there are upgrade scripts that go back to 5.5. Your talking 9 year old CMS being upgraded to the present.

Someone that knows the system from back then should be better off answering the question fro I go as far back as 7.9 when I started with nuke, before that I was with phpbb2.0.13+

to be honest with you we just got the site hosting about a week ago and we are not able to do anything with it
all we was able to do was upload nuke 5.5 which i found there isnt nothing out there for it

I think you might be getting confused Im presuming you have php 5.5 installed on your server/host and you want to install PHPNuke as a CMS (content managment system) so you can run a clan site.

php 5.5 is jumping ahead a little in my opinion, I wouldnt go any further than php 5.3 and to be safe I would use php 5.2 !!

See if you can downgrade to php 5.3

If you need help installing PHPNuke just shout there are loads of videos and a few tutorials

ped you are correct i made a mistake it says it is phpnuke 5.2.5

this is what happens when i try to upload a theme no matter where i get them from
i will ftp them up to the public/html themes folder
then i try to set phpnuke as the theme and sometimes i get a http 500 error
other times i get a all white screen or a all black screen
the only theme i can get are the ones that nuke came with that say phpnuke across the top

Well if your using our free themes they were made for Ravens Nuke, but with the odd tweak will work on Standard PHPNuke

I would suggest If you are using the site for a Clan Site, try downloading and installing Evo Xtreme from >>http://www.evolution-xtreme.com/

I also like Ravens Nuke, its clean and basic but is more for the experienced users so we can add what stuff we want to >> http://ravenphpscripts.com/ where as Xtreme comes pre installed with lots of clan site stuff as standard.

Its important they you set your site ready to be abused by people and you use the right tools for the Job, I wouldn't use Standard PHPNuke if you paid me !

IF you post what error you are getting once you have read the tutorial I can assist you with a theme issue.

now i just got to try to load a new them
do i need just download a theme for nuke evolution or can i use any theme

No, you will need to use themes specific to the version you have installed

Dont get confused between:

Nuke Evolution v2.07

and

Evo Xtreme v2.0 (also latest version themes will work which are v2.09, v2.09a, v2.09b, v2.09c) I think the latest current release of Xtreme is v2.09c

They are both different, the themes will work on both of those however the forums are different so you wont have all functions, if your unsure if you have a wrong theme just ask its not to hard to tell.
