I got a minor question for all custom designers within CT.
Can i also give my support here on the forum within custom designs?
Since im trying to setup my own company within support & custom design.
If its not allowed, im trying within an other way.

My plan is, if people need a theme/module after a fresh installation, ill then redirect them trough to CT.
But let your thoughts abouts it, and say what you guys think about it.
My site is complete in english (and want to make it also with all kinds of links to CT)

I've seen lots of people come and go on our board, and in the end it always end in tears with regards to what you are doing..

What we have built (CT) from (nothing) not knowing anything about anything was sheer hard work by myself and Floppy, and the other moderators has taken us over 4 years to get to this point where we are today, and CT still has a huge amount of potential, we just dont have enough time to get there.

I dont mind you touting for work, BUT i DO NOT want you simply replying to a problem that some one is having with the words "Please contact me for a quote"

CT is a community where we try to help people if they are having problems by answering posts in the forums, in the past helpers/moderators have realised that they can make a little bit of $$$ by offering services such as installs and modules / blocks ect and instead of simply answering a simple question or talking them though a module install its been easier for them to simply say "contact me for a quote" or "hit me up on xfire" which quite frankly is sad and unprofessional.

What I will allow though is if someone posts in the "Custom Work" thread >> http://www.clanthemes.com/forum-15-custom-work.html then by all means offer your services...

If you start spamming links to your site in every reply and offer no logical assistance then unfortunately it becomes a pointless forum.

The other little problem I have is that you are a "Moderator" and if you do any work for any members of CT and you do not do a professional job, it reflects bad on CT and they then do not come back to CT and avoid it because they got stung.

I have not seen the level of your skills or work so I don't know what you are capable of.

Do you have a portfolio ?

It might be a good idea to also mention something along the lines in your forums signature or "Custom Work" replies that:

"Please note that I am in no way affiliated to CT and any work carried out by me is not to be associated with any CT products or other members of CT Staff, You use my services at your own discretion"

This will hopefully make people understand that you are a third part looking for work.

The only other way to do it is to place advertisements on our site like DFG hosting has done, which offer the same services as we do.

I have been here for a few years and what I have done was I always replied to the threads that people ask for quotes or say, hey I will pay you to do this for most of the time, there will be custom work and also once you get started they like to bug you for a few favors. But I don't think I ever directly said to someone that "this is how much it will cost for me to help you". Most of my work is free, but every so often I get some custom work that pays, and what I do with any paying job is the money goes right to my clan to pay for our hosting, and other clan stuff.

I really wouldn't see a problem if someone says, hey, can you do this for me, I will pay. But advertising that you do work only for $$ is something I think would break the camels back. We had someone like that a short while ago, but the problem with him was he was trying to charge everyone, and he knew very very little about what he was doing and causing more harm then good. I guess he felt he learned enough in 4 weeks of messing with phpnuke, and coding to start charging people but what he was really doing was making allot of people mad, especially me, I believe he eventually joined the army then got kicked out and now is float around being silent, for now.

Overall, responding to people asking for the help and willing to charge verses saying, I am going to charge you X amount is where you should draw the line at. Its more of using common sense.

Sorry guys, i wanst my attention to be this.. im a bit ashamed that i've done it like that.
I think i was a bit to enhousiastic about it, to help you guys out..
But ill follow the advise of Ped & Corpse offcourse, and i know that i need to learn allot of things.
And im glad i ask, and you guys gave me a clear mind again.

It's no problem at all. It happens, and you asked and now you know, nothing to be ashamed of. At least your not doing what "whats his face" did and every post was, "I can help you, but it cost $$$". From him it was the worst for honestly, I did not know if he really knew what he was doing.

Help is always welcomed here and we appreciate any help that you can give to others. That always goes a long way here. I know I appreciate it when someone can help me out or help out a friend of mine when I am not around or don't know the answer to.

Ive seen alot of idiots come and go, advertising there websites to try and make a quick buck and within a month there site is completly gone because they havent paid there hosting bill.

If your going to charge for something it has to be done properly. The amount of nuke install websites ive seen people knock up after spending a week in CT forum is crazy. Tits that try to take CTs name and pass it off as their own, when really they dont have a clue what there doing.

The above it not aimed at you sQyned, just some helpful words to stop you falling under that category.
