Post Php-nuke's future - what about phpnuke.org? Posted: Thu Dec 02, 2010 7:46 am

Hi Everybody!

We can see the message on the official website (phpnuke.org): "New version of PHPnuke 9.0 will be available soon" - but there is no version, and that message is nearly 3 years old.

Otherwise, at the end of summer all of the articles are deleted from the website. Does anybody have information why did it happen and what can we know about PHP-Nuke's future?

Thanks.

Shop Purchases:
Enemy Territory Theme (Aviator) for PHP Nuke · Clan Roster 2.0 ·  · Modern Warfare 3 Xtreme Theme

Not sure whats going on with phpnuke, but there track record with security has not been the greatest and overall, there most secured version was phpnuke 7.6. Though in the 8.X series they said there security was improved, I feel they were worse off then ever.

Development of Nuke sort-of spread in 2 different directions while going for a similar goal and that was going for security and more functionality. Both RavenNuke and Nuke Evo went to different directions while going for those same goals. Both were about security, but Evo went one step further and went for functionality. Raven went and made there top priority of the security and lacked in function for a while, but lately have taken suggestions and been building more function into it.

That's why people still consider RavenNuke the closest think to the vanilla version of nuke. Where evo is heavily modified with mods, modules, and upgrades that puts them way past all others in functionality.

Overall, phpnuke I think is dead, RavenNuke is alive and still pushing along, and Evo is now spreading from Evo Germany and Nuke Evolution Xtreme.

phpnuke.org was sold off some 2+ years ago to an unknown buyer, there is speculation over at Ravens Site about the owner, but I cant remember the thread (or find it) or who the buyer was of the top of my head... I think some one gained the information from various whois reports.

Anyway, phpnuke.org deleted all the news some 6 - 8 months ago for some bizarre reason, I think they were getting a lot of spam and were just activating them all... lol even none related phpnuke stuff hence why I think they said "sod it" and deleted the lot... phpnuke.org was also compromised back in May 2010 http://www.net-security.org/secworld.php?id=9265 so that might be why the news went too.

I stay away now from phpnuke.org its a pointless site that distributes a 4yr old version of PHPNuke and as Dread says has no security and loads of bugs in it.

Ravens Nuke is the new Standard PHPNuke in my eyes, added security and over 20,000+ fixes and XHTML compliant... you would be daft not to use it. Also Evo came along way but has since died and Xtreme was born from Evo... Xtreme is getting there they are trying to bring new stuff to the CMS, and I always recommend it to people building a Clan Site because the forums has loads of pre-installed mods as standard, it also has added security too.

Will there be a PHPNuke v9.0 ?? No I doubt it and I wouldn't use it if they paid me Angel

Thanks for the informations!

I hoped You knew the real reason about deleting the news, but it seems to be that the mystery of php-nuke.org continues. Angel

When I started my website, I didn't know anything about cms and the first I met was php-nuke 8.1, so I downloaded and tried it. It was 2,5 years ago. Since then I've made so many fixes and changes, so changing would be very-very difficult to me.

Anyway, I'm sure if there was new version of nuke, I wouldn't change. I'm only curious about nuke's future, but we can see, really there's no future for it.

And I don't understand the owner, there's a website with a lot of registered users, a lot of user who is/was interested in php-nuke, a lot of pageviews, pagerank 8 and the owner does absolutely nothing...

Have a nice day All!
