After months of playing around with the forums i have found a way of making clan tags work on your forums for just the groups you want and will show up like this:

Clan Tag + Name = [CC] Scope1234

Here is how i have done it you will need a mod for the forums called 'Custom Profile Fields' the rest is easy.

Create a custom profile Field Called 'Clan Tag'
Field Type: Single text field
Publicly Display Profile Field: Yes
Field Identification: clantag
Display in user control panel: YES
Display on registration screen: YES
..
Length of input box: 7
Minumum # of characters: 0
Maximum # of characters: 6
Field Validation: Any Character

Open /template/your_template/viewtopic_body.php if using 2.0.23
Open /style/your_style/template/viewtopic_body.php If using 3.0 or above!

FIND:

Code:

{postrow.POST_AUTHOR}

MY THEME (fiblack3dblue) looks like this, though each theme is different:

INLINE BEFORE {postrow.POST_AUTHOR} INSERT THIS:

nice, but question, how is this only being shown by certian groups that you select that you want to have the tag?

The way it looks to me is that anyone / everyone can add there tag in and your just giving them the field to add it in and not actually have it controlled by the groups.

ah my bad yes you are correct yes as soon as someone puts there tag in the field it shows up on there forum posts left of there name! maybe you can try to get it for groups dread

Using the ribbon mod for the ClanRoster, I was able to edit it to display the clan tags in-front of the name using the data pulled straight from the clan roster. Admin of the roster now controls the tags on the Clan Roster and the Forums.

The main difference being, this is free and CR 2.0 is $50.00 usd.

I've reviewed the video for the installation of CR 2.0 and DREADED did a great job in the narration and creation of the video. I've worked on sites that had the CR mod added so between the video and what I have seen from the mod, I didn't see 50 bucks worh of module. It has some nice aspects, but nothing really worth that kind of money.

Don't get me wrong, the CR 2.0 module works excellent and is very well done. The guys here deserve praise for their work. So, Great job! I just believe it's grossly over priced.

What I was impressed with was the lisencing process...! Great idea and kudos to whomever decided to get that program. It was nice!!!

I'm glad you guys think this was good! im sorry for the latest of my reply i have been away all week training im back now for the weekend so ill be on now and then and should be on in the evenings int he weekdays now to! I will get around to making a video tutorial for this and making a read me to put in the downloads! Get me the free month in the club lol
