Post Is my nuke (7.8) compatible w/ .....? Posted: Sat Sep 11, 2010 12:37 pm

Ok so I have been browsing your site for some time looking & very interested in purchasing a theme(s) from you but I do have a few questions arising.

If I purchase a Xtreme, evo theme etc. is it compatible w/ my 7.8 nuke? Will all my info transfer over to the new theme/setup? Will I lose any forum/site info on switchout? My other question is on the preview windows of YOUR themes the previews arent but 1/2 of my screen, are the themes bigger in actual purchase or is this the size of the theme in said previews? And the banners/images in total in your theme packages are they accessible to add designs or text to or are they locked in as to what the theme is? Or can I make changes to the themes to my desire? Like if I wanted to take the Call of duty theme you list here and take the banner into photoshop can I access said banner and add our squad name to it or am i stuck w/ the banner as is?

Thank you for any and all info you can provide! Cheers!

Shop Purchases:
Enemy Territory Theme (Aviator) for PHP Nuke · Clan Roster 2.0 ·  · Modern Warfare 3 Xtreme Theme

first thing. If you purchase a Evo theme and your running a 7.8 site, then no it will not work. The are incompatible.

I recommend you upgrading your CMS before purchasing a theme. Upgrade to either Evo Extreme 2.0 or RaveNuke. and after you upgrade, then purchase a theme.

I think your are bit confused what a theme is. The theme is just the looks. it will not change how your site functions, so if you buy a Evo theme and run it on phpnuke 7.8, then you will just have a phpnuke 7.8 site with a Evo theme and more and likely, it will look all messed up and you will have a lot of errors.

All themes here are fixed width, (cough cough PED cough cough). I been saying for a while I like to see some full screen themes but thats my opinion.

Yes, if you purchase a theme, you can edit the header to include your clans name, a image, what ever you want. i believe he supplies you with a blank psd with the theme for the header. I am not 100% sure for I don't have any of his themes being used anymore on my site and its been a while since I used one.

I hope this helps answer any of your questions and as for you running phpnuke 7.8, 99.9% of us will tell you to upgrade not just for being more up to date, but for security reasons.

Shop Purchases:
Battlefield 2 Splash Screen

If you do not feel safe to upgrade sites then a few of us can do it for you i charge £20 for a upgrade! So say if you want to go to evo extreme form 7.8 then you would have to do more than one site conversion witch would result in higher prices so lets say its gonna take 3 upgrades then you would be talk £60!

To upgrade to Evo Xtreme 2.0 from PHPNuke 7.7 you would have to

MAKE A BACKUP OF DATABASE AND SITE

1) Downgrade to PHPNuke 7.6
2) Upgrade the Forums to the latest version
3) Upgrade to Evolution 2.07
4) Upgrade to Evo Xtreme 2.0

Its a long complex process, took me about 4-5 hours in total, but I was taking my time and reading all the stuff to make sure I was doing it correctly.

I charge £15 an hour so £60 is about right, and I guess because of the exchange rate is poor at the moment you should probably look for a USA based PHPNuke coder to upgrade your site for you.

IF your site is only a few months old with not much content in it, then I would probably just delete it and install Evo Xtreme 2.0 for a clan site, and it would save you some $$$

Other than that DreAdeDcoRpSE answered the question perfectly !! Embarrased

I usually skip steps 1, 2, 3. When i did my site and I did the {TeN} site, I made a back up of there SQL, Made any necessary changes to the tables I was saving, usually only about 8 - 15 of them. usually, admin, author, and post. then I wipe out the site and do a fresh install, in I import the SQL of what ever I saved. I have done it following the instructions before, and they do not work with a modified site all to well.

My way might be a little more tedious then it should be, but I found it easier. What ever way, its best to set up in a sub folder and call it public_html2 and have that in the root of your site. so in essence it would look like public_html/public_html2/ in your FTP and load the site up in the public_html2 folder and when its ready, drop it to the same level as the public_html and rename your public_html to public_html-old and your public_html2 folder to public_html. Re-configure the cookies and site info and your should be all set, then you can put your old site as a sub folder picking and pulling things if you need it or delete it. but doing it this way causes your site to be down as fast you can rename a folder twice. Usually about 5 seconds.

It may sound confusing but its really not.
