Post Server rules module Posted: Sun Sep 05, 2010 5:07 am

I have downloaded & installed the Server Rules Module from here. I have uploaded it both the website & mysql. I have configured the server rules & enabled the module. However, it still shows in the Inactive Module for admin testing & don't know why. Also, when I try going here:

http://www.ctuclan.org/modules.php?name=Server_Rules

It says I can not access this file directly. My site is Evo Xtreme 2.0. Any idea why this is happening?

Shop Purchases:
Enemy Territory Theme (Aviator) for PHP Nuke · Clan Roster 2.0 ·  · Modern Warfare 3 Xtreme Theme

it has not been ported to work on Evo.

I believe this is the Server Rules 1.0 that Floppy made. If so, contact me on XFire and I will get you the files straight from my site.

If he's running EVO, isn't there a built in Server Rules Module...? or am I thinking of Xtreme?

Evo Extreme 2.0 or 2.0.7 does not have any rules module that I can see. I just went through the listings of the modules on my test sites and saw nothing.

I have one running on my site and I don't recall adding it... Of course age may play a factor here as well.

If I added one, I probably would have got it from here. Hmmm, I'll get back with ya on this one.

Okay, I'm officially stating I have to much on my plate to know wtf I am talking about these days.

The rules section I was thinking of isn't a "Server Rules Mod" its the editable TOS found on the Admin-Your account module.

This may be an alternative if he needs something to hold him over until the mod gets ported.

I realize the TOS only pops up once, but then, how many times do you have to tell someone not to hack or cheat or not be an arse in the forums on your website or in your TS? I'm thinking just once...

As in a different forum string, the Member Aps program is another excellent way to have someone read and agree to adide by your rules. This, by most accounts is probably the best place to put the "server rules" They will know what is expected of them from the get-go, especially if the language is there for them to agree to.

I can understand the desire to have a seperate mod or block, I just don't see the need for it since all server rules should be the same regardless of the server. No cheating, No hacking, No Lame play etc.

This would all be true in a perfect world, however, until somebody finds that world we seem to need to resort to telling lamers the rules over and over and over again. Until we click the "Ban" button that is lol.

If you come up with something that works I sure would love to get in on the action. I have been looking for something like this as well. I could make my own, and I had made one for Nuke 8.x but just seem either too busy or too lazy to do the same for Evo Extreme.

You're right about the perfect world, I'm still looking for it myself.

For my clan, FURION, they have all permissions to BAN instantly and permanently without warning. This has so far worked very well for us. When a legit player gets banned he will find the forums and post and wont be acting like an idiot. We have recruited 3-5 players who were mistaken for hackers and reconcilled with them obviously.

It may be something to try on a 6 month basis, keep in mind tho, the "real" hackers are going to screw with you a bit time to time. The rest, being script kiddies, well, they are just out there in left field all by themselves, playing yes, with themselves and good riddence. At last count in BF2 we Prema-Banned over 20,000 or so by the time we let the server go. =)
