There are several phpnukedownloads.com files posted here along with references to their website. I thought they were blackballed for selling other peoples code they have stolen. What gives....

http://www.phpnukedownloads.com/ is owned by Floppy and CT, there is a site very similar in name to that name that is banned. We did that to sortof piss him off and also get some of his traffic. It's all tactics.

www.phpnukedownloads.com main goal is to list others downloads while still giving them credit for their work. Instead of posting the downloads on that site we give credit / traffic to their original author.

Oh okay...now I get it...LOL!! I see the difference between the two sites...the scammer guy is real scum....I got bit by his bug once already and never again.

The guy at "the other" site has been sent a lot of legal threats however very few ever have attempted to follow thru with something more than a threat. This is unfortunate.

Do note for yourself that it is common place amongst anything "open source" to be ripped, stolen, copied, lied about, etc. by members of that open source group. They take ideas and continually build on it. The PhP Nuke community has been bad about this for years. A ton of what you find on the net now, php nuke related, wouldn't exist if it weren't for some of these less than honorable individuals so each cloud does have a silver lining, reputable or not. So remember the concept that Open Source is just that.... OPEN SOURCE.

The key thing to do is to remember if you are going to pay for a product, get that product from the original developers if possible. I work with Xtrato at Xtrato Designs and on occasion we get e-mail requests from people who purchased themes from other sites illegally. Often they send hate mail demanding satisfaction and immediate assistance, which is never honored of course. I think you get the picture here. Stay legit, do your research and buy your products from the appropriate developers and you can never go wrong.

I've had a few of those as well, they were not demanding though, totally the reverse... very understanding and supportive, and of course gutted they got ripped of by a scum bag.

I just tell them to file a complaint to PayPal and if you want support I can give you a small discount on the original product...

But you are right, making something sell-able for an open source product is always going to be fun !

One of the reasons that I wouldn't go into theme sales until I had a shop that made our downloads GPL free, IE 2 separate downloads so our images remain copyrighted... doesn't stop warez, but its a dam good foot hold on them, as they cant claim GPL over the images.

I went all the way to finding out the "Scum Bags" home town and got a quote from a solicitor in his home town, I don't want to discuss the crooks of it all in an open thread so that's all I will say on the subject, all I can say at the time I didn't follow it though because it didn't work in my favour... who knows times have changed at illegal file sharing is always in the lime light so things might be different these days.

What it is going to take is someone with a lot of money, time and dedication to see it through, one scum bag at a time. After a handful get nailed and word gets out, what ever domino effect it creates will be worth more than the money spent to prosecute.
