Okay, I know I just released Version 1.0b3 a few days ago. Today, when out side killing my self with a cancer stick, I had a though to give the users more control. So after I finished my cig, I came in and started writing up a new section on the downloads and editing in the admin controls, after a few hours of coding it was finished and I like to get people's opinions on if this is a feature that should be permanent or was it a waste of my time and remove it. Watch the video and please leave feedback on your thoughts.

Also, I like to use this thread to have people throw out there idea's for things that possibly can be added for the next release.

Video may take a min or 2 for certian users, all depends on your comp speed and ISP speed

Its nice Corpse, if you can get it working on RN.. i would <3 to test it more and figure out what maybe needs to be added.. Im not into Evo that much.. But as far as i can see, great job!

I think someone that is more familiar with Rave will have to post this for this uses different coding and I just have not messed with Raven to know what I would need to have different.

If you like Floppy, I can send you the files to play around with. I have not done up the SQL files with the new table in it but that would take like 5 min to do. If you have a Evo or extreme test site you and play around with it.

Hey Guys,

I have just recently tried this module on my site, www.closecombatseries.net. I have got about 3700 files for download for this game. The downloads module is very important to me.

I like that you can show a screenshot to users before they click on the download link, thats the main reason I downloaded in the first place.

The category display is sleek and streamlined just like the description says, I like that. When navigating a massive amount of downloads, presentation is key.

The fact that the DownloadsAddSave.php randomizes all filenames and screenshot names ($rand = RandomNumber(10);) is the one reason I cannot continue to use this....

My files can't be random. They must be very descriptive. I believe it helps search engines as well if the filenames match what the image or zip file is. Now, I am a cut-n-paster-trial-and-error PHP person. I have been mashing my head on how to remove this and just keep original file names intact, but my mashing didn't do anything.

Another note on this, when you delete a download the files and screenshots stay. You can potentially get a lot of orphaned files with random filenames.

Anyways, organization is crucial to large sites with huge file/folder structures. I hope I can find the ansrew to preserving original file names.

I have also been trying to change the download button. The download submit button is kind of small and does not fit in with the size of everything else. The user wants to download a file, it should be prominent...

Currently it is

I have been trying to change it to an image, the same way Clan Themes has it.

echo "<input type=\"submit\" src=\"modules/". $module_name ."/images/d.gif\" name=\"submit\" value=\"Download\" />

The image shows up and you can click on it. Once you click on it, it send you to a blank page with the url Domain.name/retrievedownload.php.

After some Googling, it appears the problem requires more code to be entered so the download ID is passed to the image. Can't figure that out.

I have already addressed this for someone else. That was done by who ever did the module before me. I will maybe write in a way of turning that off or on. If I can find the files that I already edited then I will send them to you. The images were not done but I did the files on that file, but to do the images wouldn't be to hard.

by changing the input type from submit to image is really all you needed to do. The image type is used in the same fashion as a submit button, only with an image to click on. I hope this helps and I will try finding that file. If not I will rewrite it not to do random numbers.

I downloaded it a few minutes ago and will mess with it either tonight or tomorrow and give you some feed back.

Also, I tried to download it from your website and recieved a blank white page. It may have been because I was not logged in, I dunno. I didn't any time looking into the matter, sorry.

You have to be logged in on my site to download it. The new features you see on this thread, like in the video and just what I have said I am doing, is not in the current release, its what I am working on for the next release, which is still a ways to go. This new aspect of the system is giving me issues, one day it sort-of works then the next it stops working. Fustrating is what it is.
