Post Whats better for a portfolio site Posted: Wed Jul 14, 2010 4:48 pm

hey people just a question

what platform is better for a portfolio site evo or raven as i will be adding some pretty valuable things to this to the site in the future as i need this site for my game designer portfolio hence why it will be valuable and risky

as i want to find out which is more suitable for the site while being harder to steal from and break into as this will be the most secure site i will ever make so yea my portfolio will be on there and really even though its a portfolio site i know there are some sad nerds out there just to steal stuff and mod them just slightly so hehehe i want this stuff majorly over secure so i can catch them out in no time while showing the stuff i have on there

this is just a curiosity for now but the site will get started some time in the next few months so i want to start planning

Shop Purchases:
Enemy Territory Theme (Aviator) for PHP Nuke · Clan Roster 2.0 ·  · Modern Warfare 3 Xtreme Theme

Nuke Evo is more for gaming clans, where RavenNuke is for more professional sites. Your best bet would be Raven Nuke. As for protecting everything, that's a fantasy that can not happen. if you don't want people taking things, then don't put it on the net. plain and simple. For images if you are going to have artworks and what not displayed, putting a watermark on it is the best way to go other then not putting it at all on the site.

yea watermarking is what i was planning on doing probably disable right click to stop the save feature and so on but really its a near impossible feature to stop fully so hell really its demo work so really theres no reeeeeeeeal problem with it getting stolen but if it gets published then they better be willing to pay for a hell of a law suit lol as i will be doing that

but yea raven i was thinking about but really when i tried it my self a few months back i didnt really like it but that was for a gaming community, so really i guess i could play with it again and see if it will suit my needs now

For a portfolio ??

I would probably use Wordpress or just static XHTML and JQuery, you can get some really very nice portfolio templates from ThemeForest >> http://themeforest.net/searches?term=portfolio&type=files

Post Whats better for a portfolio site Posted: Sun Oct 24, 2010 11:31 am

I was messing around with Wordpress, For people who never blogged before WordPress is pretty difficult for making a portfolio. Trust me I've spent 3 days straight non stop trying to figure out the coding and widgets and plugins its nerve wreaking. Maybe its just me but I would just suggest to just make your own website, customize it. Thats why its a portfolio to show off what you can do.
Honestly thats what Im working on now. I jumped into throwing a site out there then Now I realize that I have a lot of work to make a site. I currently have my main design site up but its only like 20 percent done. Im still trying to make my portfolio site but I really just gonna wait till i finish college.
Theres many websites and articles people have wrote to tell you what people are looking for in a online portfolio. Do the research and you end up with a presentable portfolio.

I would make my own too, themeforest.com has some rather nice templates for portfolio's just edit them.. it wont be a dynamic site but its only a portfolio for showcasing your talent.
