Post Ct_rn theme tweaks Posted: Wed Mar 03, 2010 10:25 am

Hi guys;

we're playing around with a couple of these downloaded from here- great work (thanks!)- BUT the site I'm working on isn't clan related. Or gaming.

lol.

We're looking at using one of the themes and hacking it about a little to suit (would be rude not too)

I've managed to sort out random banners, etc. and noticed if I reduced the hight, then the theme followed... sort of.

My question is this; if I don't use a full width header/ banner, it aligns left. Could you please advise how to make it "centre"?

Also, these are a fixed width theme?; is there a quick/ easy "hack" to make it run at say 90% available width, centred, with the middle column taking up any extra available ?(leave left and right blocks fixed width, let the header graphic be "filled" with background image) (This is mainly for the home page with forums latest centre block and nukeC classifieds latest adverts block)

Any help/ pointers are much appreciated.

Regards

Andy

wasn't sure whether to start a new thread, or reply here... so if it needs to be moved.... (sorry)

Anyway; couple of quick questions (I've not managed to "fix" them myself.

With the theme, if you select forums/ pm's, etc. the left hand column/ menu disappears. Can somebody please advise how it's re-enabled?

Also, when you select forums, it gives an extra row which says "website forums" - can this be removed? (It's a row that's not required, my users know where they are, lol) (website is the site name)

Also, which part of the code (I think this is one of the files in forum/viewtopic_post.tpl or similar)- the forums user details (avatars, posts, links, profile information) shows on the right. How is this changed to the left? I've done a "rude hack" and used a file from a different theme altogether, but that in turn has it's own "issues"

Once I've got all the tweaks sorted I would like, do you guys want a copy to be able to distribute to other users? (Or do you mind if it's supplied to RN?) Your copyright etc. are still in tact at the bottom/ in the files.

Thanks for any help/ advice you can provide (I know this is a free theme)- hopefully I can "give back" what I learn/ use to the community ;)

For the blocks on the left side, go into your ACP under "Modules" and make sure you have with the forums module to show left blocks.

For your other question about having the info on the left rather then the top, Ped is the best to answer this but I had to do a crude hack one also and it seems to work. but I think Ped will be able to throw you a file that should work. If not then I will see if I can throw you one. I just have to dig cause my stuff is 99% for Evo.

thanks for the reply;

I used the file from another theme to get around the forum info on the right > left, but it's a bit of a "crude" way of doing it...

With regards the modules part in ACP- I'm using RN- it doesn't give that option. It's definitely a theme related part (I think it may need modifying in theme.php) because with other themes, it didn't show that issue....

If I get chance, I'll dig one of them out, see if I can find the code...

Have a good weekend.

Cheers

Andy Angel

He wont be able to see it as its in the "Purchased" area

You need to edit theme.php

Problem is its on more place than 1 so editing it needs a bit of concentraction.

the edits are the same but in more than 1 place, and I cant remember how many times without opeining it up

What your looking for is something like

Code:
if (($name=='Forums') OR ($name=='Private_Messages') OR ($name=='Your_Account') OR ($name=='RottNAudio') OR ($name=='Profile') OR ($name=='Groups') OR ($name=='vwar') OR ($name=='vWar_Account')  OR ($name=='Members_List')) {

Theses actually remove the right blocks from the named modules so if you wanted the right block in the forums you would have to remove

Code:
($name=='Forums') OR

and so on and so forth

I cant really offer much more support that than because im flat out with purchased support and clients.

It would be good if you submitted it to the downloads once you have it all sorted though Wink

no problem; thanks for the response- understand @ paid for stuff ;)

I'll tweak the theme (try to make notes within it as well for others to be able to edit) then submit it, and wait for feedback ;) (may be a while though Sarcastic )
