Post Banners ct_rn_black Posted: Sat Feb 06, 2010 7:13 am

I have no troubles replacing the banner however wondering if there is any way to make a Left Block Banner. Its default is set to 0 Page Top which is just under the random themes, would like to have it on left side. I have added the advertisement position to Left Block and numbered it 1 but it only works for 0 Page Top as the default. Can I change that code to make a new banner position as Left Block?

Install instructions:
By default the spotlight image will be displayed (just under the header) until a banner is added. The banner position is set to 0 (zero) and can be added through the Advertisment Module. Please follow these steps.

• Make sure in Admin/Prefrences that you activate banners for your site checkbox is ticked.
• Activate the Advertisment Module at Admin/Modules.
• Add a Banner Client inside the Advertisment Admin Area Module.
• Add a Banner.
• Make sure it is set to show at position 0 (zero).

Job done, you should now see your banner add instead of the spotlight image.

Thanks

yeah its very easy actually

within the banner admin settings ( yoursite.com/admin.php?op=ad_positions ) you make a new banner position say

Left Top
Left Bottom
Right Top
Right Bottom

The advertisement admin would then assign a "Position Number" to each of those positions say like

Left Top = 3
Left Bottom = 4
Right Top = 5
Right Bottom = 6

All you do then is manually goto yoursite.com/blocks using your FTP software and download the block called "block-Advertising.php"

rename it to say "block-Advertising_Left_Top.php"

open it up in a text editor and change the "Position Number" to corrispond with the Left Top = 3 from the advert admin area like so

Code:
$content = '<br />';
$content .= ads(3);
$content .= '<br />';

All we did was change the 1 to a 3 on the second line

Then just upload it, goto your blocks admin and activate the block "Advertising Left Top" and its all done

Don't forget you have to actually add a ad hehe for it to show.. lol

You would then repeat that process for all the rest of the positions you make

Left Bottom
Right Top
Right Bottom

should only take you a few minutes to do that.
