It would be nice to know what designs are on the drawing board or which games will be themed.

For example, if I knew you had an Alien v Predator theme coming, I would be spending time trying to make my own or looking at other sites for something.

Yup we used to do this, but we found that competitor sites used to monitor it as well, and release exactly the same stuff ! lol

I can see how a competitor would emmulate your designs, etc. What about just annoucing which games are in the forcast?

Any plans for the following game themes?

Metro 2033

I manage many, many clan websites and knowing this is helpful in locking-down a potential customer....for me and CT at the same time!

Well it takes on average about 2 -3 weeks to make a great theme

Ive thought about doing a Metro 2033 one next kind of looks an interesting game/design

I suppose Crysis 2 will be a good one too

Ive not really thought about it much really, I just make a theme when I feel like making a theme ! lol I know that's bad business but I never wanted this to be a business, more of a hobby

You should quit your day job and make websites for game publishers. Turn your hobby in to a career. Games will be around for a long time. I understand that it takes time to make a good theme. I would say there are about 5-6 in your shop that are second to none in terms of originality and quality.

From a business perspective, I would suggest focusing on themes to the big titles. AvP would sell more than Metro 2033. Also, providing different versions of the same theme would enhance your sales. Like you did with COD MW2 (green and red)....if you had various shades of colors for BC2 (I.E. in the header), it might attract more customers.

Like I mentioned, I get asked to build many gaming websites for friends and have turned a hobby in to extra cash. I also think a business like yours would benefit from someone like myself that would re-sell your theme. My customers don;t want to come to your site and buy the theme and then send it to me. They just want me to provide them a finished project. If I was advertising your portfolio with the assurance that I could install it for them, your residual revenue would increase without the overhead of monitoring the CT forums with theme support from new buyers.

LOL...I guess my one suggestion turned in to many :)

Well I appreciate the thought

I'm actually retired (only young early 30's) I was in the forces but got injured and discharged, I don't need the money either (got some compensation for injuries) I do it to get by the boredom. I applied to go to UNI last year to study Game Design but it was full and they offered me a degree in Computer Science instead which I refused because at £3000 a year I want to do the course I would like to do and not something second best, And i couldn't see me getting a job with a Computer Science Degree !

People tell me to turn this into a business all the time, but I personally think PHPNuke is slowly but surely fading... but then again I think PC gaming has faded a lot in the recent years too and that has also contributed to the demise.

Ive been doing this now for about 4 years and as you can see made about 80+ themes some I think are very good whilst others (mainly my first 20 - 30) are not so great, I was still learning!

What I do know like yourself there are a few other people that do what you do and make gaming sites for other people, and im not saying you will but your not going to buy the same theme twice are you ! lol

Ive had many people come to the site asking for site/theme support who have purchased a theme from a third party like yourself and not me, cant remember who it was and then get really disappointed when I don't help resolve there problem ! lol so if your clients want support in the future then I would advice it if they brought the themes and just emailed it to you when ready.

I do also offer modifying service for any theme, depending on what users want changing it can be very cheap to simply change the header and add another game, minutes in fact. (most users want flash all singing and dancing and big colour changes which is time consuming)

As for my next venture... not sure I want to travel some, Think im going to get a nice big BMW GS1200 Adventure and travel across Europe and the far east for a few months for a good break ! hehe

is AvP any good ? I was going to buy it but all those aliens put me off, I actually like realistic games and not all these creepy crawly type games.

AvP...I just got it tonight. Cool so far. Really tough on the GPU.

As far as reselling your themes, I have always wondered why theme sellers don't integrate unique license keys for them. Similar to the Clan Manager Module...it uses a key. This way you could track the number of installs.

Well good luck on your endeavors. It will be a shame if you give up theme designs. There are not many left out there. Even if Nuke is on the decline, I am sure future revisions of it will spawn.
