Post Changing a theme name Posted: Sun Jan 31, 2010 1:02 am

Shop Purchases:
Battlefield 2142 (Aviator v2) Theme for Nuke Platinum ·  · HAZE Nuke Platinum Theme (Technical) · Clan Roster 2.0 · Modern Warfare 2 Evo Xtreme · Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Xtreme Theme · Gamer Cards Module · Call of Duty Black Ops Xtreme Theme · Multiple Gamer Xtreme · Crysis 2 Xtreme Theme · Battlefield 3 Xtreme Theme · Modern Warfare 3 Xtreme Theme

I know you can change the name of a single theme using the admin panel. I have a different request. I want to upload the same theme twice on one website. So, besides just changing the theme's file name, is the theme name coded in a certain file.

You may wonder why I want to do this. Basically, I want to use different header images(and topic icons) for the different games my clan supports. This way they can easily change the theme in their profile or use the Theme selector block.

Thanks for your help!

Well to be honest I have no idea why Evo put that silly rename theme into the theme control admin area, yes you can rename the theme... but it wont rename the forums, so its flaud from the get go, in my opinion a very silly function.

You could rename a complete theme, it would mean renaming all the files linking to the theme

I dont understand why you would want to do it though

it would probably be easier to make the current theme have a random banner header image that rotated randomly

So the theme name is hard coded in all the php files? I figured it was set as a Global Constant and assigned to a variable name, like 'theme_name.'

I thought about the random header image, but I wanted to do more than just the header(like forum icons). My clan supports various games and I wanted to have a dedicated theme for each game title. This way Crysis players are not always looking at COD4 graphics.

Shop Purchases:
Call of Duty 4 SAS Theme

What i would do is whack a banner rotator script on and have how ever many banners you want then i would add that mod which allows for icons beside each forum (like here) and have a game icon next to the relevant forums then just add different icons for different news articles.

Not sure how good at coding you are, but you could add a field in the your_account / profile module, and depending on what "division" they are in you could do the banner that way.
