Hello all

I am looking for a hack or mod that would alert a entered user to your site., That tells them that

"This Site Is Best Viewed Using Firefox" with the option to x(close) ? This would be similar to a popup

I know I have had users complain that they can't see certain things or that images don't show up using IE.

Sure would be a nice add on. Any information on this would be great for the community.

Cheers

You can use a simple javascript alert box for getting started until you find a better one. Keep in mind people hate these boxes.

Code:
echo "<script LANGUAGE=\"JavaScript\">
  <!-- hide from JavaScript impaired browsers
         alert(' This site is best viewed with firefox \"IE users may get errors\" ');
  // done hiding -->
   </SCRIPT>";

Or this one which will give the username before the message else it will say Anonymous
Code:
     if(empty($cookie)){
$username = 'Anonymous';
}else{
$username = $cookie[1];
}
echo "<script LANGUAGE=\"JavaScript\" />
  <!-- hide from JavaScript impaired browsers
         alert(' ".$username." This site is best viewed with firefox \"IE users may get errors\" ');
  // done hiding -->
   </script>";

I will let you decide where to put them m8

Hey Snype, thanks for the response m8. But I was thinking of a animated figure that would randomly appear. Maybe walk or fly by stating the message. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

Agreed that is annoying

maybe have it work on the bases of what browser they are using, I mean if your already running FF, then you dont need the pop up. Maybe have some sort of Jquery popup rather then a annoying windows alert.

Not sure if there is something like that but I am pretty sure it could be made.

I like that idea, but I am no coder/scriptor. If anyone would like to take a stab at this one. It would be great.

At least it would detour peeps from using that sucky IE
