Does any one no of a mod or hack not sure what you would call it, that when a member of clan posts in forums it puts the clan tags be befor there name?

I think I would so what snype suggests first, or just ask them what its called... if its out there it can at lerast be converted to work with PHPNuke very easily probably..

I could probably do it, but it would take me a while because im more a designer than coder... Floppy's ya man but I know he is falt our with life/work and Clan Roster and the mo..

Ask them first see what they say, he may give you the mod

want a to know the funny thing the owner known as gt24 isnt good friends with me and i dont think he would help if i was to get his email could one of you do it allso my friend says he did something to the foum files it was a minipielation or something im not sure but would you be kind enough to do it for as in wmail and mmake the files

Ok he emailed me back and it is the prefix mod which is here http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=1436875 it will need porting to nuke i tried this a while back and couldn't get round some problems so i left it alone but i will have another go soon once i install xampp again but if any one else wants a crack at it be my guest lol

ok, thats a "topic" prefix mod, i guess he modded it to be used with usernames then ?

I thought maybe the best idea would be assign username tags to say groups ? hmm

Hey there. I am the owner of Combat Corps (well, the site was passed on to me, I wasn't the original designer) and I found this site from my referrer logs (from AWStats). Anyways, I thought I would just chime in.

As I stated before to Snype, I don't have a lot of details on the original mod that was used to help create our particular version although I am aware of how it works. It can be designed from scratch if need be and I am currently trying that for a phpbb 3 site (ours is phpbb 2 and not Nuke).

Still, I thought I would explain what is going on here. The thread starter was a member of our clan (the site is a clan site) and got thrown out when he started his own clan trying to copy our clan site in both content (board names and descriptions) and design (however, his designs were not a match because he was trying to emulate our phpbb feel with a nuke site, which is a project in of itself I imagine). Apparently, I don't like the idea of somebody trying to make an exact copy of my site.

So, while the mod is something you can look into and implement if need be, I recommend overall that you find your own way in the world of clan websites. Create a theme, something you like, and go with it. If your theme is just "copy another clan" then you will forever be in the shadow of another group striving to try to do what they do while not even being too sure what they are going to do anyways.

Still, imitation is a form of flattery I suppose.

Hey welcome to the site !

clanthemes has had its fair share of sites jumping on the "band waggon" in our 5 year life span and im sure there will be more. The come and go trying to copy our exact content and ideas... most of the time they fail because they realize the dedication and time needed to run such a site is far greater than they thought ! lol

I agree, obviusly I dont know if the thread started tried to copy your site or not, but your right... it would be daft if all sites were the same in design and content, so i see what your saying.

We tend to make scripts here that are relevant to clan sites, and I actually thought it was a better requested mod than the usual requests.

I could make the mod, as normal its time permitted these days... Ill have a look when I get back from my holiday/vacation in 2 weeks.

Is your version capable of adding clan tags to each individual or entire groups of registered users ?

It works on group. So, you can manage a group and in the group management area, you can specify a Prefix and a Suffix for the group. They are blank by default.

We don't display the "tags" in most areas, that's why I think the mod was either manually coded or greatly modified from another mod. The "tags" only display on our thread view and we use group colors everywhere else. When it does display, it throws the tags either before or after and for multiple "tags" (person is in multiple groups) then it just displays the tags one after another, not sure which wins priority there. (Edit : It "wins" by numeric priority, so newer created groups are displayed first followed by later created groups irregardless of name) It isn't a problem because we seem to be only using one group with tags. Yeah, having tags only in thread view might seem a bit odd, but it works rather well in practice, at least for us. Apparently, if you want this feature elsewhere, you have to modify each page accordingly.

We did try to put tags on board displays and that sort of thing and it ended up just looking too weird, not the way we wanted it. Most of our boards are hidden, internal clan stuff, so we would see a TON of [CC] tags on board views and alike and it just didn't seem right. Thread view is fine because in our thread view, there is a lot of stuff displaying for a specific user.

Database wise, we just have two generic fields for each group which are group_prefix and group_suffix, they are text, and they display values if they exist. Generic value is just a blank string.

We had issues because folks would "register" with the prefix/suffix to get around the automatic adding thingy. So, we just used coloration to make the added bits a different color than anything else.

So, that's all I can think of, short of diving in and finding code snips. In practice, we only needed a prefix for one group, so the next iteration might not have as much flexibility (just might check to see if you are in a certain group then if so add this). I know, it doesn't really matter a whole ton speed wise, but every little bit helps.
