Well, Nuke does not run on straight phpBB2, it uses BB2Nuke which is a edited version of phpbb3. PhpBB never supported BB2Nuke, they always reffered anyone asking to ask at a nuke site like here. I know that for the years I helped out over there testing mods, and helping edit/upgrade or create Mods. Last I knew. RavenNuke was working on a bridge and not actually rewriting the CMS to incorporate phpBB3, but Nuke Evo is working on a version of Evo that is completely rewritten for phpBB3. But, Blocks are limited for just a few and still is in RC. Will it be ready anytime soon, I doubt it. It will probably be a year or more before its out there, but again, you will be extremely limited on blocks/modules/themes.

I know BB2Nuke is an edited version, but it is based on phpbb2 which has no support anymore, or at least none from the original authors. That's just a sign to move on for me, not saying its essential for anyone, I just like to move with the latest where possible. Blocks aren't a problem, most of the tables phpbb3 uses aren't that much different to stop a quick mod from fixing any existing ones. I already converted two of mine, took about 10 mins and because they're within the nuke database, much easier to manipulate, and backup etc.
Bridging isn't for me, it's messy. It may suit others, that's fine, but I like the forums integral to the site for the overall appearance. It's nothing major to upgrade and convert from nuke2bb thanks to the good work done by the guys at nukekorea.net. I bridged another site for a friend and imo the integral version looks much better, and you can ditch the massive word search tables for something much better organised and implemented.

Overall, I have used phpBB3 and I really don't see the need to move over anytime soon. Some may like it, but I think they did what Evo Extreme did and that was pump in worthless stuff into it. Though there are some things I do like, there are other things that I don't like. I am not sure what Evo is exactly doing with the form and functions, but I am just hoping that everything that is done is not filled with worthless stuff taking up space.

Certainly not the impression I get from my working with it so far. The advantages outweigh the disadvantages, but it depends on personal choice I guess. They've improved the moderator and admin controls, and that's a major plus for me. It's also easier to apply and remove mods than the usual file editing and what not. The themes are more easily tailored (can be done within the admin interface), better (more compliant) coding as well.
Thanks for the input though, it's good to talk
