Sorry, this is a totally dumb question... How do I get an animated favicon working with IE8? I assume it's a local setting in my IE8 browser that I don't have set correctly.

On my raven nuke site I made the following changes to the header.php file:

if (file_exists('themes/' . $ThemeSel . '/images/favicon.ico')) {
echo '<link rel="shortcut icon" href="themes/', $ThemeSel, '/images/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon"/>',"\n";
echo '<link rel="icon" type="image/gif" href="/images/animated_favicon1.gif" />',"\n";

Firefox displays the animated favicon gif just fine, But I can't get IE8 to display the animated gif. Driving me nuts. haha

I don't know this to for sure, but older versions of IE didn't support animated icons.

I think IE 7 supported them as well as 8, but as for older ones, I believe you're right.
