Well Truth be Told we have had in the works a Different Clan CMS that doesn't have vWar but that is a long way off from completion and we needed to fix some stuff up for the users of PNC first.

We will move away from vwar eventually but for now we have secured it and improved it. This could very well be the last version of PNC (not counting any needed bug fixes or security updates) if we can get the new system up and running. The changes in the new system Blow PNC away already but it is still a long way off. Unfortunately there is no-one to work on it but myself right now and it's hard for one guy to do it all himself but I'll keep pluggin away when I can at it..

Enemy Territory Theme (Aviator) for PHP Nuke · Clan Roster 2.0 ·  · Modern Warfare 3 Xtreme Theme

I still don't trust vWar or anything running it for just how bad that mod was and also know that it needed a full overhaul, but good luck with that.

Well We've patched every security issue known as well as couple we found on our own that weren't known so I am pretty confident that the system is decently secure. Nothing can ever be guaranteed to be perfect and EVERY Nuke system has its share of vulnerabilities where the count equals or surpasses the ones vwar had. Now I am not saying it is my favourite system but it is better than anything currently out there. Perhaps you should try and respect the hard work of those that have put in countless hours trying to make a safe and decent choice available to clans instead of bashing blindly without knowing what you are talking about.

There is NOT ONE single listed vulnerability with this new system and should one arise we will fix it! So good luck with that!

Glad to see its still ongoing, unfortunalty I wouldn't touch anything with vWar included either, The damage has already been done.

Im sure you have gone though it with a fine comb, but from past experience its no fun losing your site to a insecure script... and wasn't the last version secure, like the version before that too ?

Im no coder, so I may be wrong what i do know is that people want security of there site more than anything, even a fancy theme !! security is a MUST.. and vWar was the week link with PNC unfortunalty, but like you say you have fixed everything so maybe it will be safe

I would prefer to use a basic script like Ravens and add what I need to be honest.. Dont Know

Post Pnc 4.5 advance release june 1st Posted: Tue May 26, 2009 4:11 pm

vWar was secured in the last version and we haven't had any complaints of people getting hacked from it. Every system including Raven has had its share of vulnerabilities. The difference is if the team is actively updating it and its users upgrading there sites once they do.

I have been running PNC 3.1 on my site for 4 years without being hacked! I did have someone sneek some files in twice but it wasn't through vWar and I later traced it back to an admin with a virus. Since I have had no break-ins. However I patched every vulnerability discovered myself when it was discovered. There hasn't been a new vWar breach discovered in almost 2 years but the same can't be said about Raven nuke which you so avidly tout. Even Raven has recently had to patch newly discovered holes. So it is unfair to judge a system based on some old news.

Besides I think one of the reasons vWar did come through with many security holes in the past was because it wasn't actively developed and also it was very popular in Europe where you find more of the larger hacking networks. Therefor it drew their attention more quickly. But as I say we've plugged all known holes plus some. Does that mean it is impenetrable? No, but neither is this site or Ravens or any others. Just look at Microsoft Google Yahoo and many of the big guns who get hacked constantly. There really can be no guarantees of perfection from anyone. We simply do our best and if someone finds a new way around we plug it up as quickly as we can. The only reason I don't like vWar is not for its security (the security is now top notch) but because it is not the most simple system to upgrade onto. It is confusing as all hell to update a template and it's theme layout doesn't integrate with the site as well as I'd like. But still it has more features for scrim recording than anything existing and is overall a decent system. Combined with the package we've made it's a very good package all around. This version of PNC is tough and secure and runs really well. Till we have a replacement it's still the best choice for clans.

I am sorry if I offended you with my last post. I was just stating a fact that even the developers of vWar even said, and that was that there script was broken and there were allot of holes and issues, and recommended for others to wait for vWar 1.7.0 which is in RC1 currently. I am sure you have gone through it with a fine tooth comb, I was just stating that I don't trust the system for I was one of its victoms a while back and that was after I did all the security fixes they had and with a few other things I did that I could to secure it.

Why is it that some people feel that I don't know that every nuke has its share of vulnerabilities. I feel everyone has to bring that up for I already knew that and have known that. If you believe anything is secured, ever, then you are a fool. So I agree with you that there is nothing secured, I was just stating as the dev's said, that they had to take there system and they rewrite it and do other things which the new version is still in RC as of now.

Some of the things that I know they fixed can be found in this that was replied to me by one of the dev's.

- removed http://web8.bmbnet.com/update.dat versions check
- added new method to check for current version by including a javascript from www.vwar.de
- removed username combobox for admin login (inputfield now)
- Fixed weak password generation function
- included secure session handling using Zend_Auth
- removed password from cookie
- encrypt cookie values using a secret key
- set cookie flag to HTTP_ONLY so it can not be read by javascript anymore
- changed password encryption from MD5(password) to SHA1(MD5(password).salt))
- centralized call of quickjump box

I am not doubting your system, it might be secured and the holes fixed, but I rather not take the chances my self just yet to risk it because I was a victim. I know the capabilities of vWar and the versatility of it. It was a great program, but overall, as a clan owner for the last 6 years, I can tell you that it wasn't worth the headache that I had to go through 2 years ago.

But I will definitely take a look at your system there.

Post Pnc 4.5 advance release june 1st Posted: Mon Jun 01, 2009 10:37 am

Well just when I thought there was nothing left to do but publish man I spent the last week exhaustively cleaning up little issues in the installer and meshing correctly the Upgrade package and cleaning up a million little over looked things that I thought someone had finished already but apparently had not but we did it and got the Full Package Ready on Time. Of course I still got a couple more tests on the Upgrade Only package to do but I believe that's ready as well finally so it should be up later today or tomorrow. Then it'll be busy as heck over the next couple weeks finishing off about 8 Free themes to be compatible with the new system. More will come after that. Confused

Anyway for those that are interested in it I hope you enjoy it cause it was a lot of work! Bad HAir Day lol

Shop Purchases:
Guildwars (Ultimate) Theme · Call of Duty 4 Ultimate Theme · Anzio Multi Gaming Theme · Multi Gaming (Warrior) Red Style Theme · Clan Roster 2.0

Well I for one, Personally think you are doing a great job !
I've been using PNC for about 3 years now. In fact, It is used
in 3 of our 4 websites. Show me another CMS that is FREE and
has had that much work done on it and has so many options.
The 3 sites also happen to be the 3 templates that i bought from here.

I have the 4.5 beta and am playing with it right now. The only
issue I have is that the left blocks are not working in my cod4 theme. I believe that
I had the same issue with a previous build, but it's only my memory
that is at fault. I can't remember what i did to fix it. It sux getting old.. lol

Anyways, thank you for all the work you do once again.
