Can RSS feeds be imported into the news module as topics ? and be listed as news when a new RSS feed is posted ?

TBH i have never heard of this before although it would be really cool to have... I just use the inbuilt feeding system with Ravens to display new news from EVE Online RSS, if anyone knows how this can happen (Peds Question) please post here coz that will defo save on my index scroll fest!!

I presume you are using a block to show external feeds, It would be great if we could input feeds into the news module and they show on the home page when there updated... even better would be the ability to deactivate that particular news article if its a silly feed (say 1 particular news feed was crap and you didnt want to show it on your site, the option to just turn it off/ deactivate it via news admin)

Anyways, I think its going to be harder than it sounds !! I know a CMS called MEMHT does it very well indeed..

Sounds like a great idea, all phpnuke sites well 90% of them lack good reading but like u said this will be one hell of a job.

The default news module in phpnuke its probably by far the worst of and CMS and needs something doing to it fast i like that Joomla the look of the news/article display but omg it has such and bad admin side, just a plain mess.

lol well I know mack has no time what so ever free, all his spare time is going into the clan matches plug-in for clan roster, so i think it might have to be some one from the ravens team, seem as it would easily improve the functionality of ravens CMS.

I do agree that the current news module is rather basic and is in need of a total overall, and seen as it is the default module for the CMS it should really be the flagship module of PHPNuke, and its not !

The whole comments system needs updating too, and if the RSS feature was interoperated it sure would boost people's opinion of the friendliness and usefulness of the CMS, after all people want to comment on news these days they want to interact and discuss stuff more...

I just don't know who would be the right person for the job, well I do in fact know 2 good candidates but there both too busy !

Now if I wanted it for my site I would go find/pay some one to do it, but because its a community based project it would be kind of cool if we got 10 people all to chip in £20 (200 !! lol) to get a decent job done... just an idea... don't think people would want to put there hands into a free CMS though

Well I would pay for something like this, it would beat having another center block and would also vastly improve the amount of contont that would be available on your site, as instead of what I currently have 1 block for RSS Feed from EVE Online and the standard news block which also displays copied and pasted news from eve it sure would make my site look more professional after all todays world is all about information...

Ped i'll send ya £20 next weekend on my payday so this project can get started Smiley
