Post Nuke manual install process Posted: Mon Apr 06, 2009 12:37 am

This is a general over view, I will add specific instructions per request:

This is just an FYI for those who would seek to manually install their nuke versions.

When you choose your Nuke program you need to locate the "SQL" file and place it on your desktop.

Next copy the config.php file on to your desktop as well.

Start Uploading your Nuke CMS into your root directory. Do this 2-3 folders at a time. If you upload all your folders into your root directory all at once, you may get a bad upload, meaning you could be missing files or small parts of them. So, go ahead and start this...

Now go on to your cpanel and create your domain, naming it. After that is done, you will need to create a db (database) user and make sure the account name has the DB with the "db" permissions. If you don't, there will not be a user with the permissions to edit and admin the db.

Once the site and admin with permissions are created. Open the phpmyadmin and upload the sql into the db names after your webiste. Make sure the upload takes. You can do this by noting to the right of your sites name the count will go from a zero to a number. Plus you should recieve a pop up saying the upload was sucessfull.

Open the config.php file and edit it to match to your database info.

Now, some of the larger and more specialized versions will have files that need to have their permission altered. This altering is called a CHMOD. In your Platinum or Evo download you will find a file with what ever name they decided to call it with a test listing the files and folders that need their permissions changed. Follow them and CHMOD all the files they tell you to CHMOD

Now, the site will probably work without the CHMOD on the surface level. But, you will need to CHMOD those files so don't forget this step.

Once all the above is done, type in the website name and it will open assuming you filled out the config.php file properly.

Some people like using installers, I'm not a fan of them. I've been working with nuke installs for so long now that I can manually add a site faster than most can use the installer. The only thing that gets me these days are the many different versions of cpanels and often getting the person with whom I'm helping out of the cpanel.

Shop Purchases:
T3 Light Multi Gaming Theme · Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Theme

Uploading through FTP will be better if its in Binary mode also i have found.like is said above 2 or 3 folders at a time. this stops errors on the upload, and files inside the folders being left out. meaning you have to do it all over again as there is literaly 1000s of files inside a CMS.
so checking them individualy would take a weeks.

good walk through Relic

Normally if think there might be a problem with the upload, after it's uploaded. I will use a second ftp program like filezilla and then do an entire upload (2nd upload) and set the files not to overwrite. If I see files or folders being added, depending on how many, I will either continue to test the nuke uploaded site (a small miss of folders and or files) or completely delete the install and start over( if ther eis a lot)

Also, as it is nice to have a fast ftp program, it is also good knowledge to know that this may occasionally work against you. Often, depending on your connection, the slower ones are better to use so I've found.
