There is a big difference between Nuke Evo and standard nuke

I think it all boils down to what the individual wants, I personally think Evo is full of lots of useless stuff that I would never ever use and prefer to use Ravens Nuke and add a Clan Roster to it and im away !!

Download the latest v2.30.01 from http://ravenphpscripts.com/ and see for your self, very basic but very good...

If you wanted the whole hog then Evo Extreme is available, but again just full of far to much stuff for my needs.

I am the exact opposite. I run a clan and I found allot of the things that came with Evo was what I wanted to use in the first place. RN is nice but I personally thing there latest release is crap, and it feels like RN is moving in the direction of Evo.

Any ways. Most blocks and modules that are for phpnuke just need some minor changes to make them work for Evo.

Yup your right, I was also very disappointed with the latest version of Ravens v2.30.01 (seemed alot like evo to me!!)

I guess it is down to the individual, but which ever you decide you wont be disappointed, and there both better than standard nuke Open Mouth

After working with RN some more. I have to add for anyone that is thinking to use RN or Evo. They are both great CMS to use. But there are a few things that are bad about both.

Good points of Evo:

  • Preloaded with a bunch of forum upgrades
  • Preloaded with a bunch of module for clans
  • Secured
  • User friendly

Faults of Evo:

  • Some mod's are worthless
  • Support on there site LACK'S
  • themes and module's are not all compatible to work on Evo
  • Hard for users of previous versions of nuke to make the switch.

Good points of RavenNuke:

  • Security
  • Dumbed down CMS where its easy to use, very basic
  • Great support
  • Almost all modules and themes will work on it.

Faults of RavenNuke:

  • Becoming more like Evo on the script side
  • Moving/Adding blocks need multiple steps to performs a single action. (this is where Evo blows RN out of the water)
  • Missing some basic mods that SHOULD have been there in the first place, (ex. BBcode box 5.1.0)
  • Installing could be a little easier, meaning having an installer like Evo which makes things go faster and more smoothly.

There are more faults and good things about each, I just stuck with posting 5 things each. These are opinion based which is off my first hand experience using both. Of course others would disagree to just disagree, and vise versa. Some have not given both distro's a full try and actually worked with both for a while before making an opinion's. And those are going to be the people I expect to respond saying something in the means of, RN sucks, or Evo sucks and not have any TRUE statements to back it up. For those looking at posting, if you have not tried, then set up both distros and play with them for a week before posting.

If your looking for more of a professional site that will not be used for mostly gaming clans, then RavenNuke is the way to go. If your looking for something for gaming clans, that has allot of mods for the clans, and a ton more in the supplementary folder that comes with the download, then Evo is the way to go.

Overall my opinion on RN is lower then Evo, for something I brought up to them over a year ago and was told that it was going to be fixed and improved was not, and seems that there fix was just to "put a refresh button". To me what I can do on evo in 10 seconds, can take between 3 - 5 min on RN. Depending on how many blocks you have and how often you like updating and moving things. Then on the script side I can see where if you want to use a mod that came out before 7.6, it may not work or cause issues on your site.

But its all opinion based and everyone is entitled to there opinions.

As PeD stated, What ever anyone chooses to use, RavenNuke or Nuke Evolution, you wont be disappointed.

If any of you are wondering why I am posting this now. I really wanted to go and really play around with the new RavenNuke before I form a hard opinion to say to others, What I posted before was just an opinion of playing with it for a few hours.

some good points but i like both they are all you could want for a site depending on what the site will be

by i do have another issue for each

the groups in ravennuke really suck they are dated and need a major make over if they was to be more like EVO it would be so much better

points in EVO taken out dont know why but to some they are a must and it wasnt like they hogged the system up was it

just had to post that its been bugging me for a long while

I agree with you on that, I think you mean "outdated", for ravennuke issue. As for the point system, that was another one that I do think Evo should have left in. I was just trying to keep it to 5 each CMS. I know I could have easily have gone allot more on each, but I did not want to spend all day on this post.

I prefer Evo and I disagree on the support issue. If you use evo 2.0.7 and are in need of support all you need to do is search the Evo site for an answer. Sure the team has moved on but 99.9% of problems have been answered. It's up to the user new or not to search for it.

Now on Raven the support I think could be better. I asked a question about sentinel having the cache and all i got was 1 reply "don't worry about it" because it is not used. It never answered my question though.

If you're installing new might as well use phpbb3. You can always make a front page and or use a portal.

What I mean on support is that if the answer has NOT been answered, or you have a question on something, they are generally slow on answering you. Not everything has been addressed and when it comes to complicated questions, sometimes you may not get it. RavenNuke site for support is more active, as for there responses, it up to them.
