Post Running php-nuke in java application server Posted: Thu Feb 26, 2009 11:43 pm

There is a GPL software addon to Application servers, (Tomcat, Glassfish, etc) that will allow your site to run out an an application server setup. This is good news if you wanted Java on your PHP nuke site, or wanted to be able to load balance your site over a few different servers. The performance is supposed to be much better as well.

Check out http://wiki.caucho.com/Quercus:_PHP-Nuke

The web site suggests you use their Application server called Resin, of course because you have to buy it, but it is possible to set this all up in another type of Application server.

I did find a link that explains how to use the software to setup Mediawiki in Quercus.
How to run MediaWiki out of a Weblogic application server.

I wish I had a second Linux server at home where I could test or mock up an install of PHP-Nuke through Tomcat or Glassfish or one of the other GPL type application servers. To see how it's done and the difference in performance. This would also be a great way to have Java based modules on the PHP-Nuke site.

Thought I would start a thread to see if there was any interest in this sort of setup.
