I see have a new phpbb and i want to upgrade it to thei sversion (3) anyone know how to do that?

It might be a little tricky to pull off. But it can be done.

That wont work with phpnuke, considering that phpnuke runs off bb2nuke, not the base model of phpbb. If you want to run a CMS that is based on the phpbb3, then you will have to go with the only one I know of out there, and that is phpbb-Evolution Alpha. It's still in testing, and I am pretty sure that you will loose everything, meaning that nothing will transfer over, but its the next step in the Evo world.

That's where you can see more about it. Overall. If your looking to do allot with it and have the options that you have with Nuke, then I wouldn't go with that just yet, for you will be limited. Nuke Evolution is the only CMS that I know is running the latest version of phpBB2 series and that is phpbb 2.0.23, well, bb2nuke to be more exact.

There is a portal system out there that allows you to use phpbb 3.x, but again, that is just a portal system and not actually a CMS, The one I posted above will be a full CMS running off phpbb3.

I was reading that and overall, it seems they are making a bridge, maybe a slight integration. But there CMS would need to be completely redone to work for phpbb3, and overall, what is seems what Raven said, they have been for a while now, moving there CMS away from relying on phpbb for all the functions. What they are doing is good in a way, but I think they should think about taking the next step forward, and rather trying to fit a lamborghini engine into a Volkswagon bug, to actually rebuild and start fresh and build something new. That's what I don't agree with what they are doing. it just seems like they are taking something and slapping bandaids on it and saying its all good.

I really like to see something Fresh, New, not a patch of what they have already. In my old job restoring muscle cars, and we had a car come in all patched up, we had names for those, Frankenstein, bondo buggies, patches, ect... And if they actually fixed them right in the first place, they would have been better cars when they got to me or they would have never gotten to me.

But, this is my opinion and everyone is entitled to there own and I know some will disagree with me, and others will agree, but who am I to say that its going to be a POS, it might be a nice patch, but what I am getting at is for how long before the rust appears under the patch and lifts the body filler/paint.

b5 DOES run phpbb, but it's not phpbb 3. It's one version behind it. It was going to be updated to the latest phpbb before support for it stopped.

I was also interested in testing a Nuke version with Phpbb3 as I do like the looks and feel of Phpbb3 moreso than 2.

I've also looked into it and asked several people who would be excellent candidates to strip phpbb2 and port Phpbb3. They scrutinized the idea and dismissed it rather quickly. I don't take issue with that, on the same token, a program-system that doesn't evolve will just like dinosaurs, become extinct - a thing of the past. Those "in the know" should welcome the opportunity to update and move forward the Php Nuke CMS. If not, don't complain when it becomes a CMS of the past.

Agreed. I'm up for porting it but I'm a li'l lazy. My platinum installs work fine, I'm happy with them the way they are. I'm not complaining that platinum is dead. Saddened, hehe yes, but not complaining. The coding of it became a mess from having too many hands in it. The decision Futurenuke.com faced in continuing Platinum support was to either start all over and clean up the mess or write a new version.
They decided it was easier to create a new version. I don't disagree with the decision.
They ended up not doing either of the two though. Genesis was made by Loki in 2006.
Is anyone using FN's Genesis? Just curious. The only site I know of that is running it is my clan's site, which is also Loki's clan site.

hmm... are you talking about Genesis the one that been going on for 2 years?? cause it isnt a finished project yet, Loki has been out for a very long while now due to health problems and to be honest Genesis will never be complete dont just take my word for it either out of all the staff at FN only 3 run platinum the others run evo-Xtreme and ravensnuke, I was a member of FN for a while (about 2 years) befor i had enough i offered help to someone and got it thrown back at me by the admin GAZ.

Also are you talking about platinum 7.6.B.5 running phpbb? cause it runs the same as any other nuke forum

updating nuke sites to the current phpb2 shouldn't be an issue at all.

PHPBB-EVO said they would make a script to slide over when it went into beta, not sure though. I would never use any other version of phpnuke besides evo as it's the most secure copy of nuke out. If I had no other choice then I would buy VB or IB.
