Hi there,

I've been having alot of complaints recently about the speed the website loads in regards to the huge flash needing to load all the time, Is it a possibility for it to load once and not every time you click on a link within the website ? I don't have anything streaming on the website and the provider bandwidth i have is high enough. I have optimized the DB got rid of useless db but still have the same issue.

The case is that i don't want to remove it without there being a replacement or a work around for the issues with flash loading speeds,

add this to your .htaccess
change max age to what u fancy.
MONTH 2592000
WEEK 604800
DAY 43200

Code:

<FilesMatch "\.(flv|swf)$">
Header set Cache-Control "max-age=2592000"
</FilesMatch>

That will cache flash files meaning your users don't have to download it once they have downloaded it once. you can also cache all other file types.RavenNuke already has a cache function within its .htaccess.

I have Raven Nuke so i thought this wouldnt be an issue...

www.chemicalguild.com is the site... i dont seem to have issues with loading times so cant really point out whats slowing it down for the majority of the users,

your site loads instant for me, also the flash header is the 1st thing to load (instantly).

maybe the people complaining have a bad ping to your site or are 56k'ers ?

Yeah i thought as much...

I believe the Single CPU core users are getting the issue after chatting with a couple of them last night... none of them are using 56k lines .. and cant really say if they clear there IE cash or Firefox aswell...

The flash header is only 215kb so I cant really make it any smaller, and if you understand how nuke works, it loads the header everytime on page refresh, Noto's cache solution is perfect for the larger theme files.

The only thing that would slow it down if anything is the header background images but there only 161kb as well.

I always make sure i compress any flash files prior to placing them in a theme and do the same with images for maximum optimization. Its a must these days.

I think its your users having bad hair days because your site loaded instantly for me as well.

Let us know if you get any more complaints, we can always try other ideas... like only having 1 bg image instead of 4 different one's but... up to you though if you think it loads slow.
