Hi thanks for taking your time to read my concerns.

I have recently got a web hosting service that has PHPNuke, MySQL databases and others. My concern is the fact I don't know how to use this stuff yet I am wondering if there a easy to use beginners guide out there. I want to make a plain simple clan website using Photoshop then a way to import the theme to my website.

As for your question, are you looking to run a CMS?

If you are, I have 2 video tutorials I did in flash that will show you how to install Nuke Evolution. I will be making one for RavenNuke in the near future, just have a few other things to do first and other projects. So I really haven't been in a rush. But to install a nuke site is easier then you think, and more time I have away from working on others sites, i will have more time to make tutorials on how to add themes and what not. But for now, I would take a look at these.

There are also people that will set up your site for a small fee, just be cautious on who you allow into the admin section of your site.

hope this helps a little. phpnuke is easier then most think. But if you do go with nuke, remember, only go with Nuke Evolution, which is what my site is, (Banner Below), or RavenNuke which this site is running. Both are very secure.

1st u need to install nuke, if thats what u are going to use.
I dont reconmend using your host fantastico to install nuke because it will give you version 8 which IMO sucks horse cock. Install Ravens dristro its so much better. you can grab that here http://ravenphpscripts.com/ look in the downloads and find RavenNuke[tm] Version 2.30.00 this is the latest release at the time of writing.

As for making your own theme, if your have some experience in photoshop/Gimp/paintshop ect and HTML its really not that hard to make a theme but can be time consuming. There are a few tutorials to be found on Google but IMO again these suck out dated and not enough detail to them. You will be 10x better off picky apart and default simple theme that comes with nuke and seeing what does what. This is how i learned and probably if you ask any theme guru here they will tell you the same.

Hi again, I have gotten a template from Clan-Templates website, however I am editing the info like our guild name .. etc..I got some of it done but How do I go about uploading it to my website?

My website host is Siteground.com

Also, I think it was noto or one of the admins that posted earlier about installing Nuke-Evolution..or RavenNuke..how do I go about installing that onto my website do I have to save/unzip the files in a special place then upload them onto my File Manager?

Thanks for the help its always appreciated ^__^

OK what you need to do is the following:

Step 1: Unpack (unzip) the Raven Nuke Zip file onto your desktop.

Step 2: Use a FTP Program like Filezilla (it's free, get it via google) and upload the folders and files in HTML Folder (NOT THE HTML FOLDER ITSELF) to the public_html directory on your server. Also known as your *ROOT*

*Your host will provide you with FTP details or you can set them up in your hosting control panel (username & password)*

Step 4: Make a SQL database - You choose the database name, password and user.

Step 5: In the unpacked Raven nuke files on your desktop go here: YOUR DESKTOP/RavenNuke_v2.30.00/HTML/config.php and edit the following lines to match the details of your SQL Database;

$dbhost = 'localhost OR address of your SQL server';
$dbuname = 'DATABASE USERNAME HERE';
$dbpass = 'DATABASE USER PASSWORD HERE';
$dbname = 'DATABASE NAME HERE';
$prefix = 'nuke';

$subscription_url = '';
$admin_file = 'admin';

$display_errors = false;  //This should only be used (set to "true") when testing locally and not in a production environment


Then once you have put all the details in upload this file to your server's *ROOT* ( <--- look above)

Step 6: Go to: www.YOURDOMAIN.COM/INSTALLATION/installSQL.php
and follow on screen instructions Angel

If you are in any doubt about what to do the Raven package a "How To Install" package which you can view by going to: www.YOURDOMAIN.COM/HowToInstall/index.html

Thats how you install Ravens Nuke Nerd

You also have to set permissions which you can find in the how to install info.
