Post Move php nuke directory and backup Posted: Thu Nov 06, 2008 3:21 pm

hi quick question here

i created a php nuke installation on my website but i didn't install it in the root, i made a back up of the mysql database

for example root/phpnuke/(i installed it here)

now i have moved hosts will i be able to place the nuke installation in the root of my "folder" and then run the back up so it is the same as the other site.

will this work ok?

thank you Angel

Shop Purchases:
Enemy Territory Theme (Aviator) for PHP Nuke · Clan Roster 2.0 ·  · Modern Warfare 3 Xtreme Theme

Yes, I have done it in the past, what you will need to do is once you made sure you moved all files over, and installed the database back, you will need to have to edit the config.php to connect to your new location for the database. also you will need to edit the cookies path once you get the database back up. You can find the cookie path inside the forums ACP. also, any like you might have, like for downloads, you will need to edit those. Not sure if I missed anything, but it is possible.

I have done this with phpnuke 7.9, RavenNuke, and Nuke Evolution, so I don't see you having to much trouble. It does take a few hours to a few days, depending on the size of your site.

Upload files in increments and do the SQL in increments also.

ok done and it worked, new site is all up and running just like my old one, took quite a while to do it all, changing all the links etc, updating blocks, moving pictures, re doing download links, it goes on and on, but proves that it can be done, thank you for your help in your post, i was quite lucky as it is only a small site

n/p, glad to hear it went all well.

When I did my site, for me to download all files from my site, it took 28 hours to do, then took another 26 hours to upload onto the new server.

I also had basically 3 website in the one, along with a bunch of blocks and modules I have done with other things.

I finally ditched that site for to many holes in it for hackers, so I started from scratch with Nuke evolution and just transferred over my user's accounts and forums, and left everything else the same.

wow must have been a big site, to download them all to my computer took about 3 hours then to upload them again another 2 hours, then playing about with it getting it to work another 2 hours, but its all as the other site, you couldn't tell the difference :)
