Clan Roster 2.0 · Bad Company 2 Vietnam Xtreme Theme

Your looking at it..

PHPBB = PHP Bulitin Board i.e. Forums !

What we as PHP Nuke users have to be careful of is if the hacks/mods are PHP Nuke PHPBB (BBToNuke) compatable and are not to be confused with standard PHPBB Mods http://www.phpbb.com/ as this is the stand alone version.

We as PHP Nuke users must use BBToNuke Hacks/Mods that are PHP Nuke compatable.

It took me about a year to work out what PHPBB was ! LMAO And another 6 months to work out what BBToNuke meant !!

Since Clan-Themes opened i have installed around 10 mods/add-ons to the forums and i rather enjoyed it (sad)

What most people dont know is though is regarding updating to the newest version of your forums, generally if you add mods/add to your site will be lost if you upgrade to the latest version of PHPBB. So if you have spent 40 hours adding mods, is it really worth upgrading to loose all those mods ! not really in my opinion !

Well now that you know what the diffrences between PHPBB and BBToNuke are get installing mods on your forums !

A word of advice MAKE BACKUPS FIRST !

Post Whats PHPBB ? Posted: Tue Mar 03, 2009 5:24 pm

Hello all,

My first post is probably rather simple for most of you but I was wondering.

Does Raven Nuke come with its own forums set or must I upload a seperate method for them? I have looked throughout the site and though I have found some topics covering certain parts of the question above none that I could find deal specifically with Raven and if it has a forums set built in and how to activate it if it does.

Thank you in advance

P.S. Great site it has been much help!

Shop Purchases:
Call of Duty 4 SAS Theme

raven has its own forums so do most other content management systems i think you have to activate it in the modules first it has its own seperate admin control panel aswell, if you install it and get stuck just come back and post and someone will help you

Shop Purchases:
Enemy Territory Theme (Aviator) for PHP Nuke · Clan Roster 2.0 ·  · Modern Warfare 3 Xtreme Theme

RavenNuke, Nuke Evolution, PhpNuke, Nuke Platnium, ect.. run off of an edited version of phpbb forums. If you uploaded RavenNuke and have the site running, then you will see in the ACP (Admin Control Pannel) a button that says "Modules"

IE( www.YOURSITE.com/admin.php?op=modules ),

and in there you will need to make sure your forums is activated. If it is set to Active, then go to

www.YOURSITE.com/modules/Forums/admin/index.php

Just replace the "www.YOURSITE.com with your sites URL of course. and you will be able to create the forums from there. There should also be a button to your Forums inside your ACP.

Thank you both. I got them working with your help. I was simply not following a final step. Here's what was happening to me for any other not so pro users. Hope this helps someone else.

First this was what I was shown when I clicked on the modules forums button:

Then I created these two forums (Shouldn't have because I was trying to create a sub topic below the welcome!) under Forum management link on the left side of screen:
Image Has Been Resized, Click To Enlarge.

Which resulted only in the same message as the first when I viewed the forums area. Then I reread your posts and stared at my monitor a while before trying the obvious and adding a catagory to the Welcome! area. LOL and bam it worked.

Corpse I wanted to thank you for taking the time to make the video tutorial for installing Nuke Evo. I watched it and paused it as I installed Raven. I have only 1 suggestion for that video. The part where a database is created isn't really all that clear with how you change the code within. Other then that 1 thing I think its perfect.

Thanks again I'm sure I will be back with more questions if I cant find the answers already posted here somewhere. I went and checked out The headshot website also. Pretty hot.

As for the Nuke Evo video, Which part wasn't very clear, are you talking about installing the SQL? I haven't seen that video for a while so I am not 100% sure. I will look into making one explaining the database a little more indepth.

I just finished one maybe 5 min ago for how to create the forums and also how to make sections of the forums only visible for certain groups.

Thanks for the comments other wise, I am glad to hear that my work is helping. And thanks for comment on the HS site, that is one of my babies, my new one I am working on is http://www.betterleftdead.com

Sorry about the delayed response but work calls! Yep Corpse the part about how you need to edit the database code after creating it. user data base
user name
db password
Hope you can add those in to the new database tutorial your going to make.

I have run into a new problem with the forums since my original post. They are up and running. But anytime someone else trys to reply to my testing topic after they register it tells them "invalid session please resubmit the form" at the top of the reply box. No one else but me can reply to the created topic and no one else but me can create a topic it seems. Very weird I am able to reply and it shows my replies but no one else can?!?

I went through the permissions settings figuring I had restricted something and I checked that registered users where indeed eligible to read, reply and create topics, but, still no go.
I also made sure that the topic created was not locked.
I went as far as uninstalling the entire web site and reinstalling a fresh load just to be absolutely sure it wasnt that files got dropped on the FTP session. Same thing happens on the fresh load though.

I was thinking does the forums need a seperate data base to run properly? Do I have to point any file like config to anything in particular?
At this point I am at a loss.

BTW Corpse where is the link for your new forums tutorial? It might be just what the doctor ordered if these topics are covered in it.
I will be checking out your new adventure.

Thanks again!

I ran into a similar problem, that's because your cookies are set up wrong in the forums.
Please Read and adjust your forum cookie settings accordingly.

PLEASE READ THESE STEPS VERY CAREFULLY

If you are still getting the invalid session errors after these changes clear you cookies. If your still getting the error check your settings again. Everyone that I have helped with this issue that has claimed that they did it correctly but still gets the errors had their cookie settings wrong. Wouldn't you know fixing them made the errors go away.

Please note that the use of an IP address will NOT work. You must have a proper DNS entry with a TLD.

NOTE: The cookie name is now important
If you get url or cookie validation errors overrule them as the config they were built on no longer work. So keep clicking yes.
This will fix the invalid session error.
You may also have to clear you cookies.

If your cookie name is longer than the field allows for
Code:

Open
modules/Forums/templates/subSilver/admin/board_config/board_cookies.tpl

Find:
maxlength="16"

Replace with:
maxlength="255"

Secure cookie should be off

Your site is on the root of a domain
Example URL: http://www.mysite.com / http://mysite.com
Cookie domain: .mysite.com (Note the period before the name)
Cookie name: mysite (The cookie name MUST match exactly your domain without the suffix)
Cookie path: /

Your site is on subdomain
Example URL: http://nuke.mysite.com
Cookie domain: nuke.mysite.com
Cookie name: mysite (The cookie name MUST match exactly your domain without the suffix)
Cookie path: /

Your site is in a sub folder
Example URL: http://www.mysite.com/nuke/
Domain Name: www.mysite.com
Script Path: /nuke/modules/Forums/
Cookie domain: .mysite.com (Note the period before the name)
Cookie name: mysite (The cookie name MUST match exactly your domain without the suffix)
Cookie path: /nuke (Note there is no / at the end)

Nope, it is all the same database.

Okay, I will post here when i get around to making it. I just finished one with one on how to set up your forums, and how to add a section only seen by the ones you give permission to see it.

Post Whats PHPBB ? Posted: Sat Mar 07, 2009 7:03 am

That did it! You rock...Need I say more? This has been lots of fun. Only 3 weeks ago I began the process of web site designing. I started with Front Page 2003 to mess around and get my sea legs if you will. Learned alot from it because of its user friendliness and its preloaded mistake stoppers LOL. Then I came over here and started learning about Ravennuke and php, and now I can actually follow directions! Hehe.

Thanks so much for being gentle with a newbie and I promise to share what I have learned with anyone who asks, which will include this web site address. Corpse I have a few friends who play L4D I will send them your way :)
