Hi

Im extremely knew to all this php nuke stuff so i dont have a clue lol...

Can you point me in the direction of the best nuke to install what has the best chance of running a template bought from this site?

I just downloaded php nuke 8 but dont know if this is the correct or best one:

Its the age old discussion of nuke versions OR distributions. Who's is the best and what not.

I could tell you a million reasons why I think I know best and so could others. For my money so to speak, http://ravenphpscripts.com/. If your of the opinion that less is more. Most of the templates here are compatible with the latest version.

If you want all the bells and whistles you should check out Evolution (http://www.nuke-evolution.com/). We have a few templates for it also.

Also the Platinum distro (http://www.futurenuke.com/) which I don't think is being updated or maintained atm.

I commend Floppys advice....however, ive a different view

I would suggest looking into what features you want and investigating those first...then compare the compatibility of those add-ons to the distros they will operate on!

Example: Your Clan Requires an 'Application Form' ( I would Suggest 'Member Application' )....
Find out what distros its compatible for, and add it to your list of choices

Then Move on to the Next Feature you want

Another Example: Say your clan has multiple 'Recruit Leaders' or person responsible for recruiting...then i would suggest the 'Group ModeratorZ' Mod ) which allows your groups to have multiple Group Moderators...

You REALLY need to sit down and think about what Features you want, or Need....a website should be designed around making administration as easy as can be for you and your staff! Also, when looking for Distros, you may want to look into one that has a lot of developers that specifically design for 'Clans' or 'Gaming'...
I am one of many Nuke Developers that design specifically for 'Clans' ( sorry, im not going to lead you in a direction of choice ) but i can tell you there are many of us out there! perhaps some time spent in 'Google' should point you in the right direction!

You will not recieve help from me if i have to go digging for your CMS information and version, If i have to take the time to play 21 questions, then you can take the time to google! No Copyright, no support either!

Did i mention im a total noob at nuke? Caues only a nuke nooby would ask the heck a 'distro' is lol Dont Know

a 'Bridge' system will never be able to keep up with development...

As soon as Nuke Releases another feature, or function, the 'Bridge' system would have to be right on the ball with any new features available...

In theory, it would work, but from past experience (especially in the phpBB community ) it never stays up to date...
Hell, i can list off a hundred MODS they fail to keep up to date in their own mods list community at the time/date of this post.

While it may work at this time, in about 6 months i can guarantee that you would be back to the original problem of integration ultimately doing nothing more then prolonging the inevitable.

Your best bet is to Pick a distro and stick with it.
If you dont want to loose any data, i would stick with phpBB3 and cry,kick,scream, at their development team to create more clan features...
If you dont want to wait for those features, i would move over to a distro that offers the features you want!

I agree with Floppy Ravens Nuke has been the best distro I have used. I tried EVO and imho i thought it was pants. to much stuff but hey thats just me i wanted a quick site and one that i could add my own modules too and keep the speed and security up. Oh and speaking of security Ravens Nuke is one of the best distro out there for that too!

i Originally started with PHPNuke 8.0, but after a hack attack on my site im looking into other distro's myself, im also thinking of going for raven nuke as its simple all my mods should install correct and the security is one of the best in nuke i believe..

Before this turns into a Nuke Bashing Fest...

Please take this information into consideration before speaking 'Your Mind' about a nuke distro:

Nuke in itself is very difficult to exploit. A majority of all known exploits ( 98%) stem from the ( Modules / Mods ) of the distro. These modules are not often kept up to date. Any module that allows information to be submitted by a public browser is often the culprit.

As a webmaster of your site, its your responsibility to investigate each script on your website as well as maintain its version to the most current.
