I downloaded a hack for the download module, but I don't understand how to install it...
This is the readme file:

ENGLISH

I was looking for an upload module that can manage downloads and uploads, so I decided to modify the original one.
The users can upload files, and the admin has to accept them, in the same way of the original module.

Features:
works on the original download module
no download database rebuild needed
upload on existent categories
admin can enable/disable upload feature
uploads are sorted in folders, reflecting categories
folders are created when at the first upload in that category
Tested on phpnuke 6.5 but it can work also in other versions

INSTALLATION
After the backup of your modules/downloads, you have to extract the archive in that directory.
Edit the file d_config.php and set the variables $uppath e $upbaseurl needed for upload.

$uppath must contain the absolute path of the upload base dir (ex. c:/inetpub/wwwroot/uploads or /web/htdocs/phpnuke/upload)

$upbaseurl must contain the URL path to resolve the same dir

Write permission must be enabled on the dir for web users.
If you want to host .exe files on IIS you have to control that execute permission are disabled.

$enable_upload permit to disable upload feature.

If you want to use a language different than english and italian, you have to import downloads/language/other_lang.php in your language file that is in /modules/downloads/language/xxx-lng.php and translate it

TO-DO
improve folder management to use cat names and their order
do a pop-up window with the upload state
manage the movement of the file, if it is moved to an other category
Improve the visualization of categories in the main pages (as other scripts does) [/font]

Ok for the paths they need to be like the following (using your actual details, ask your host if you are unsure of what these are):

$uppath: /home/YOURDOMAIN/modules/downloads/upload
$upbaseurl: http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&file=uploads <--- This is guessing and should not be following to the letter.

For the write permission (also known as CHMOD) you can use an FTP Client to do this or the web -based File Manager if using CPanel by right clicking then Permissions/Properties and set as needed.
