Post Updating the forum Posted: Wed Feb 21, 2007 4:44 am

To update the forums to the most recent version of phpbb, can I simply drop the updated files onto my server in the appropriate section or is there some mods that will be lost by doing that? I really want to update the forums a bit. If it has been specifically mod'd then how can I best go about updating them?

Whatever version was for free on phpnuke.org site. 7.9 I think. I am not very smart about all this yet. I just know how to get it there, lol.

Sounds like the basic phpnuke so yes, just overite the forum files with the latest phpbb files to get it up to date....if you added any mods to the old files, then you'll have to add them to the new files to get them to work ( obviously )

I thought so, but wanted a second opinion before I went ahead with the update. Thanks.

This goes without saying BACKUP your old files you are going to mod/update first just in-case you could always update your code manually!

Does anyone know exactly which file in the main forum folder (/modules/forum/...) handles the avatars showing? For some reason avatars are not showing in my forum. Using Ravennuke of course and the site is http://shixter.com
