Shop Purchases:
Call of Duty 4 Ultimate Theme

Hi,

I purchased the COD4 Ultimate theme and followed the instructions on putting the two half’s together and uploaded it to the right places on my site.

I have an older COD theme made by yourselves, now I’m not sure if something from that’s conflicting with the new one.

The problem I’m having is that once uploaded and I change the theme form COD to COD4 and save nothing happens, but if I go into ‘My Account’ and choose COD4 and save I see the theme working fine.

Any idea of what I could have done wrong?

I'm using 7.9 nuke

Many thanks,

MrGreen

Hello mate you have too set the CoD4 as the "default" theme in the preferences. What you are doing at the moment is making yourself just see the theme with the theme selector.

Go to your admin panel and find preferences click on that. Scroll down the preferences till you see CoD it should be in a drop down select box. Select CoD4 and then save.

This now makes it the default theme for every one of your users.

That's what I was trying to say that I've done.

The theme works and I can see it when I select it from my account / themes, but when I select it from the admin panel preferences then save as "default" nothing happens, it defaults back to the old theme.

Thanks,

MrGreen

Battlefield 2 Theme (Aviator V2) · Battlefield 2142 (Aviator v2) · Arnhem Multi Gaming Theme · Call of Duty 4 Ultimate Theme · Multi Gaming (Warrior) Theme · Topsites Manager V1 PhpNuke Module · Clan Roster v1.7 Php Nuke Module · Frontlines Fuel Of War Theme · Anzio Multi Gaming Theme · Left for Dead L4D PhpNuke Evo Theme · Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Theme · Clan Roster 2.0 · Call of Duty Black Ops Xtreme Theme

Are you using MainInfoBlock ? Ive recently found this to be a problem on one of my other sites, I removed it and I was able to set it as default theme. The only other thing I can think of is if you seem to think it sets it as default for all users, it wont it will only set it as the default site theme for new users not registerd users as they would already have there theme set in there account. Try setting it as default theme again and delete cookies or if you dont want to delete them just log out of admin and log out of your account, you may find that you are able to see the default theme set for site. If this sont work then maybe just maybe there is a conflict with your COD and COD4 theme wich i think is unlikely but possible as i had a simaler issue with the BF2 and 2142 they was both called Aviator and i had to change theme to BF2 and 2142 respectivly as well as change all the links in both themes, wich tbh is not all that difficult if you just use find and replace in fav file editor ie dreamweaver ;)

I tried as you suggested and I’ve checked it with another pc that has never registered on the site and still the same.

When I select the COD4 theme in the preferences and save, the screen refreshes but when I look at the selection box it still says COD after the refresh not COD4.

No matter how many times I do it, it always says COD and not COD4

Is there any config file that I can download off the site open and change the selection manually?

Many thanks,

MrGreen

You must have changed it (themes) in your profile at one time or another.

Oddly enough it appears that once you use the theme changing option in your profile, it appears to forever overide the default settings, even if the admin discontinues the options. Or so I've noticed on a few CMS's. Delete the user account and create another, this time go into the admin section and turn off the option for your users to change themes

*This post has been changed as I misread the initial problem*

OK I’ll start again:

1. I’m the admin of the site.

2. I have an older version of a Clan-theme running on my site it is called COD.

3. I have this set as the site DEFAULT in the admin area in PREFERANCES since we started (Two years) so everybody has it as their setting.

4. I purchased the new theme COD4 in two downloads and put together as the instructions stated.

5. I uploaded the COD4 theme to the right place on our site.

6. As suggested in the instructions once uploaded I changed the COD in MY PROFILE to COD4 and I could then see it and navigate around the various parts. I then changed it back from COD4 to COD in MY PROFILE and after the window refreshed the site was back to the COD theme.

7. Then went in to the admin area / preferences and where it says DEFAULT THEME FOR YOUR SITE there is a box next to this with COD in it.

8. I changed it to COD4 and saved at the bottom. The site refreshed but with NO change to the site, and in the DEFAULT THEME FOR YOUR SITE box it still says COD and not COD4

9. I posted on here and followed some of the above advice to change the DEFAULT setting for the SITE from COD to COD4 with no joy.

10. Can some please point me in the right direction?

Many thanks,

MrGreen

Hmmm, that actually seems to be a browser issue partly. Are you using IE or Firefox? If you changed the theme in your preferences and clicked on the save button, when IE refreshed it should have the new theme as default.

On the same token, if you have ever altered themes via your profile, you will only see the default theme you selected via your profile and NOT the sites default theme. Also, it is my suggestion is to use both IE and Firefox as well as a "test" account when working on your themes, this way if IE starts acting goofy for some reason, Firefox will show you the site correctly.

Unless these themes are using the same named files there should never be a conflict although like I said before if you have altered the theme via your profile, the selected theme will override the default theme, even if the admin goes in and turns off that option or changes the sites actual default theme. Of course this doesn't explain why your preferences are not changing via your admin menu... but I'm thinking it's your IE browser acting up and not a CMS issue.

I'm on msn live messenger as JUDGE_RELIC@YAHOO.COM if you can catch me there I'll do what I can to help.

Make sure you do a "Save" when changing items in your "Preferences"

That actually sounds like a database issue, not saving the settings..

Can you login into phpmyadmin and manually change the COD to COD4 and see if that works
