Post Phpbb on html website? Posted: Thu Jan 24, 2008 8:50 pm

I have a friend who has an HTML website with a massive invisionfree board. He would like to have a phpbb on his HTML website. Is it possible to setup a database for the phpbb and integrate or link to it from the main html website? How would that work? Or would he have to have a php website to get the phpbb?

Shop Purchases:
Clan Roster v1.7 Php Nuke Module · Clan Roster 2.0

You can have a stand alone PHPbb forums: http://www.phpbb.com/

Then all he needs to do is create a link to the index of that forum like: www.thesitename.co.uk/phpbbforums or whateverthe folder name it is. normally: www.thesitename.co.uk/forums

The latest release is PHPbb 3.0

So, i'm understanding that after the database is created, the forums will be set up as a subdirectory and he just has to link to that subdirectory for the forums?

Shop Purchases:
Enemy Territory Theme (Aviator) for PHP Nuke · Clan Roster 2.0 ·  · Modern Warfare 3 Xtreme Theme

Another thing you can do in the future is you can inter-grade the login of the forums with the HTML website and have that control the users abilities to perform certain actions. I and another guys worked on it our old website few years back befor we moved to nuke. It's all in a thread on there site, somewhere in there. I am not a fan of there phpbb 3.0 forums so I am not really sure how those are working out. I left at phpbb 2.0.21 first came out so for features of phpbb 3.0, you probably would have to ask there, they would know best.

A sub-domain is also an option www.forums.yourdomain.co.uk/com

But that is totally optional.
