I have been looking for a way to make my site more secure. I have looked into installing sentanal but cannot find the exact steps to get in installed and reading alot of issues from using it, like admins getting locked out, people getting banned for doing a bad search and a few others.

Is there a step by step doc for installing sentanal?

Or would it be better to work with something else? Or a suggestion on something else?

A second question would be that I am trying to get the captcha to work for phpnuke8, I have gfx running, and I tried to change the config to 7, when I do this it ask to put int he number but it shows nothing to copy, just blank, no red x or nothing. I know that this isnt the cure all for spam but it helps some. I have tried many suggestions but have no luck, and i see that there seems to be alot of help here so I figured I wold ask.

Nuke Evolution or RavenNuke come with both of those installed. However sentinel is the only security answer. Just do not stray from that and your ok.

What has you so set on 8.0? I can't help but wonder what peoples attraction to this terrible version is.

A Nuke Sentinel installation tutorial would be great. I think I will try to free up some time for it when I can.

Floppy to be honest, i guess that phpnuke seem to be the most popular and it was the latest release when I really started to learn about setting something like this up. So without knowing alot of the other "cores" that had been offered I seen that there was more support for nuke. I could go into google and do searches and there were pages among pages of info. Alot were outdated and some of the blocks and mods were to much for me to figure.
So now there has been a "wow" theme purchased, and changing over to something else could be a loss to what I have been able to get working, so even if what you support would be the best, I am having hard time to jump into something else.

I will say that I am impressed with this site and the support that everyone seems to take part in, and from alot of places that I have looked at this is by far the best I have seen.

The only thing i can say is, go for RavenNuke.

I'm runnin this from day one, and never had any probs, even security wise !
The only thing u have to do is keep your Sentinel up to date. Devil

is there a way to go back in versions and not loose what you have done? or even change over to like raven or another one without loosing anything?
I dont want to sound like my mind is closed to the ideas, I would look into the ideas, i am just not real motivated at the moment :)

Or will it be you have to save your db data, and just start from scratch?

just wondering.
