Post Building a theme of your own Posted: Fri May 25, 2007 4:26 am

Does anyone know of a "how to" somewhere that would give more insight into rebuilding a theme to look the way you want? I mean something like understanding where to change images and backgrounds so that you can mostly rebuild the look of a barebones theme like 3D Fantasy or Nuke News (I list those because almost everything in them is fairly basic).

Personally, I am just having a problem figuring out exactly where to change backgrounds handling various parts of a theme. Images, I can locate by right-clicking on the image on the site and viewing the properties so I can see the image name and then going on the server and figuring out which ones need to be changed and what their sizing is. But those darn backgrounds are throwing me for a loop.

Clan Roster 2.0 · Bad Company 2 Vietnam Xtreme Theme

Not that i know off, its to complicated to write a theme tutorial in my opinion ... there is just too much to do and know it just comes form playing and more playing ..

I learnt ... i couldn't even send a dam email 3 years ago ... i got disabled at work and messed around on computers as i cant stand TV and here i am now... if i can do it any one can !

it depends how the theme is made, i do tend to throw some nice things in to confuse peeps in my themes as i know what people are like LMAO

ive seen about 3-4 diffrent tutorials in the past, but to be hones t none of them actually helped me, i just messed messed and messed a little more...

the most easiest way to learn would be to actually take a current theme apart and see what does what ....and re build it to how you like it ... slowly you will learn what does what

Yeah, I've already looked through that one on Kenetix. Didnt like it too much. Just gonna have to play around with excluding images and backgrounds one by one to see what changes what. Will be long and hard, but I guess it will give me something to do.

Yeah thats how i learnt

Get a theme and start editing the images see what does what .... rename a file name in the theme see what it turn off ect ect

just play and experiment ! if it breaks just replace it or start again ..

Thats how i learnt and it will also put you in a good position for fault finding, knowing what does what and where to find it
