Hi all.

I have just started to play a bit with php nuke. As I understand then there are some security issues with it. I have read some articles about different version numbers of phpnuke but nothing about different distributions that is Evolution, Evo Extreme, Raven, so I jumped on the search wagon and after some hours gave up. I wonder if anyone has some information about differences between them ( little is better than none ). What I'm mostly intrested about is difference regarding :

1. Security
2. Stability
3. Functionality
4. Administration.

Well i use Evo-extreme myself and have had no hackers got through me yet. It has good Functionality and admin. Only down side is the lack of themes at mo for it but i guess thats me being fussy coz i only get cod4 themes. Also i can say that it is stable aswell.

php nuke seems a bit hackable everytime i have used it myself and lacks built in mods etc.

Raven nuke is a stable and secure version too but to me again lacks themes and built in modules.

Nuke evolution is really same as extreme but with alot less built in mods.

So i say if its for clan purposes then i would go with Evo-extreme. Angel

Nath pretty much said it. RavenNuke Evo 2.0.7 and Extreme Evo 2.0 are all about the same in security, but each has there flaws and I will try putting a couple of the Pro's and Con's of each.

RavenNuke

pro's

Latest security added
Closest to the "vanilla" version of Nuke
Many theme/block/modules for it

con's

Can be a bit trickier to get moduls/blocks to work on it
Moving blocks is still a bit of a slow process
Harder to find things for clans that work right on it, (talking about the new RN and my past experiences in the past week)

Evo 2.0.7

pro's

Has mods and modules pre-installed
Made things easier to do with in it as admin
Good amount of themes/modules/blocks for it and more being ported

con's

Does have some worthless coding that can cause theme problems, but easily fixed with in the ACP
Not as many themes available for it, but still allot
allot of blocks/modules still don't work on it and still need porting and upgrading.

Evo Extreme 2.0

pro's

Latest security added
Has a ton of pre-installed mods on it
easy to install and run, especially with New people to Nuke. (this is a Pro with all Evo. RN is a bit more work but also easy to install.)

con's

May have allot of modules you don't want
Some modules for Evo may not work with it.
Even less themes made for it then Evo, but that's slowly growing.

Phpnuke 7.7+

pro's
NONE

con's

Security is not up to date
little support for it because we keep recommending to upgrade

I know I listed the security issue twice, but that's how bad it is. basic phpnuke 7.7 and higher have allot of security holes for hacks to get in and cause havoc. RavenNuke and Evo are based off of phpnuke 7.6 but with over 10,000 fixes. So this does not take brain surgery to know which one is safer.

Overall, Evo and Evo Extreme are one in the same, they have the same core files, just Evo extreme is a but more upgraded then Evo and has allot more stuff on it. My site, the one my signature links to, is a basic Evo 2.0.7 site that I have modified my self to be as modified as Evo extreme, well actually a bit further, but allot of the stuff on Evo extreme is useful if your site will be for a game site.

Dread covered it all ! hehe

Another good factor to take into consideration is your user experience with adding blocks + modules + add-ons

Ravens Nuke comes as standard and you can then add what you like/want to use on your site.

Evo is pretty much the same

Evo Xtemre has everything already so doesn't need anything installing.

I personally like to add what i use (Ravens Nuke) and build my site for what purpose im making it for.

If your new and have time, just try all 3 and see which one you like

Thanks everyone, I got some good answers here.

I'm thinking of upgrading this "homemade" gaming site http://ice.nett.org . I had thought of developing it further. I would like to have different services that uses the same user right system, but since my developing skills are very limited then I believe that it would save me a lot of time to implement a system which has been properly developed.
Time is something which is hard to find these days, when your girlfriend complains when you just look in the direction where your computer is he he. So I believe that I will just start with one distribution.

I thought that this would be a question that would be quite frequent but I believe it is a bit hard to find, so sticky is a good thing.
