I happen to run (5) L4D Dedicated Servers. I support L4D Community made Maps on my servers. My servers stay full cause I run Custom Maps. I think L4D Matchmaking works well. L4D.cfg have region settings used by Matchmaking. L4D noobs choose to go auto Matchmaking Mode! Here are 3 other non MatchMaking ways: L4D has a built in Server List if you want to join that way find yourself a better ping. I happen to give out links to a Vista/Windows 7 Gadget - Steam Server view for your Desktop. It will show your Favorites servers list, you'll see all servers and join from that Gadget. Steam Groups is another way to join games. When you join a Steam Group there's a list of servers that scolls on your screen. I have 50 members of my L4D steam group, they joined because I support Community Map Makers and my members are already are happy with the pings they have on my servers.

Will, IWNET be as good as L4D Matchmaking (everyone should really hope so).

But as your saying, you have 5 dedicated servers where you can run custom content. IW removed that feature and they are saying that you can't do it. you can only use the match making system. When L4D first came out. The match making system sucked. I have not used it in a few months. but when it first came out. most people were getting crappy pings. That is what most of are getting at whith the match making system.

Personally, I think I would like to see it implemented, but also have the dedicated server listing like the COD series always had. so it gives a wider range of choices, but it would also keep the modders going and new and old mappers interested and producing new custom content to keep the games more interesting.

I gottcha now! Believe me I'm pissed off about this too. I have a MW2 site up and ready, 2 pre-paid servers & I bought 2 PC copies in full $120.00 at my local Gamestop down the street. Now, I'll have to scrap the site, cancel the servers and get a refund from Gamestop. I blame the consoles for this! PC gets the shaft again!

The next best thing would to put in keyboard and mouse support for the PS3 and the XBox 360, then allow them to have dedicated servers and go into cross platforms. What they are doing is breaking our (the PC community) legs and taking the crouches and telling us that they will take care of all our needs.

Do I think the will allow dedicated servers. I am thinking yes, because of all the bad PR that they are getting, and is pissing them off. When? who knows.

Dice are not going to follow Infinity Ward. They have put out a statement saying most of their coders are avid PC gamers. So their their 2 new releases will be for PC and no hitches.
My clan is over 50 strong and only 3 of them are still buying MW2, the rest are holding out to see what happens. Anyone that does buy it will not be allowed use of our Ventrilo to play it until the boycott has been successful.

We have left Browning and his rabble a little message on our homepage too LMAO
