SSH is Secure Shell or as I'm refering to it as Sever Side Handling.

You will need that level of access permitted by your host which is usually an extra charge, that's worth paying for, SSH access allows you to do a number of things much more easily and quickly than it is to do through an FTP program. It also allows you to do things you simply can't do through FTP such as execute the initial (and periodic if it shuts down) startup of a self-hosted team speak and ventrilo server.

Once you have SSH access enabled through your host you will need a program to use it, like putty:

You will also need to know or learn Linux/Unix commands which are similar to DOS commands.
