Elevate your game! We all know that communication is crucial when playing a team-oriented game. VOIP was revolutionary in this regard, but still leaves room for error. GTactix was created to leave nothing to chance. Make sure you and your team are ALL on the same page and know exactly where you need to go. GTactix is the missing link in your multiplayer strategies. Enjoy!

GTactix is a tool that allows you connect with friends online and draw in realtime on a shared drawing space - typically an overhead picture of a game map. It is a standalone desktop application designed to be used out of game, to develop strategies and tactics to help your friends/clan/team be more effective while playing. Anyone can use GTactix, but it is particularly useful in a team/clan environment where an emphasis is placed on teamwork, strategy, and efficiency in-game.

Setting up is a snap, all you have to do is run the .exe file and go with that. More information below... Other questions can be answard at there main site in the forums at http://www.gtactix.com

Q. Do I have to be online to use GTactix?

A. Absolutely not. Many people use GTactix offline to study up and become more familiar with map layouts, or to draw up strats to share with their team/clan later by saving a picture of the strat via the "Save Map As..." option in the file menu.

Q. How do I connect to other people online?

A. One person needs to act as the host/server to start the session, and everyone else will join that session by entering the hosts IP address and clicking "Join Session."

  • Host/Server: To start a session that others can join, click "Host Session", enter a username, and click "Start Server".
By default, GTactix runs on TCP port 49300. You can manually specify another port if you want, but in most cases you should just leave this alone. You do not need to enter an IP address to host a session, but other users will need to know your external IP in order to connect to you. To assist with this, GTactix will try to retrieve your external IP address and displays it for you in two places.
    1) In the IP field in the Host Session panel. It will be selected as default in the dropdown list. Any additional IP addresses are your local addresses..
    2) In the title bar of the server window once the server session has been started.
If GTactix was not able to retrieve your remote IP address, you will need to find out what it is.
Try http://whatismyip.com for a quick reference.
  • Join Session: To join someone elses session, just click "Join Session", enter a username, and the IP of the host computer and click "Connect".

  • Q. How do create my computer to be a server?

    A. This can be a bit tricky. You need to open a port on your router to be able to host a session. To do that you need to first have a static IP, then from there connect to your router and open a port. Go to this site and they are very helpful on how to do it for most routers and OP systems. Be sure to read everything.

  • Setting up a static IP:
Go to this site, http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm and select the Operating System you are running and follow the instructions. Best to read them through first.

  • Setting up a the open port:
To do this, go to this link, http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm and find your router in the list and follow the instructions. Your best bet is to open port 49300 for easyness since that is the default port that the program runs on.

Q. Ok I downloaded GTactix... now what? I dont see any maps.

A. First thing you need to do is download some map packs. Click Tools > Map Vault, and youll find the list of map packs currently available. New packs will be added regularly so make sure to check back now and then. Download as few or as many as you want!

Well I hope you get some good uses out of this program, I can see the potentual application of this program and its usefullness in the future combats we will experince... Enjoy!!!
