PhpNuke Modules · Evolutions Updated Downloads Module Version 1.0b3

Posted on Friday, August 06, 2010 @ 00:30 by DreAdeDcoRpSE

A few months ago, I was approached by a few friends if I could release my version of the downloads module so they could use it on there site. upon packing it up and releasing, I had snags. You can read the more on that article HERE.

Well, after having a few people that told me I should continue on the project, I decided to hold off for a few months to basically calm down and deal with other issues at hand. Well, after taking the break I finally got around to finishing off some of the request that were given to me along with the controls that I mentioned that I would probably add in. well, here is a list of the new features added in. Its not a large list but there is a list.

A few of the changes in Version 1.0b3:

  • Added in removed user controls that allowed people to report broken downloads or make modification request. Feature was REMOVED by the Evo Extreme team for unknown reasons, and I put it back in.
  • Added when you are logged in as admin, and your viewing a download and want to make changes to it, or deactivate or delete it, you can without having to go all the way into the ACP and into the DL module and find it, it brings you to it. Feature was REMOVED by the Evo Extreme team for unknown reasons, and I put it back in.
  • Fixed the installer and added in SQL files for those that don't want to use the installer. The installer error was something that I accidentally missed.
  • Added in controls in the downloads ACP to turn on or off the Downloads Overview
  • Added in controls in the downloads ACP to change the amount of the "Top most" shown in the Downloads Overview.

Those last 2 features were ones I mentioned about adding and after being asked to add them I did.

We all know the Extreme team came out with a newer version, but sorry guys, if you want to edit it, you can't. This one is still 100% open source and will always stay like that to give you the freedom to improve on it. I bet there new version is also nice, which i know its lacking some of the things that is found in this one, but the idea of not being able to update it.

For better understanding of what changes were done from the basic DL module found on Evo basic through Evo Extreme 2.0, go here: www.headshotdomain.net/modules.php

Those edits are only from the 1.0b2 version, I have not added any images from version 1.0b3. I will update that with in a few days more and likely.

I am always taking request on things that can be changed or improved, so feel free to post your idea's/suggestions.

Module can be downloaded from HERE.

Excellent work, I agree with the encoding part, after all its only a downloads module... if it was a shop module that you intended to sell then fair enough encode it, but to encode a downloads module ?? thats just a little bit over the top...

Keep up the good work and I hope people ask for more features so you can improve on it

Thats the only way I will be able to improve on it is by peoples request. I am fresh out of ideas on how I can improve on it. If anything, I may look into maybe a new design change of how some things look. but other then that, not really sure what else can be done. User response is what is needed to make this a better module.

EDIT:
I just updated that description module with images of the new stuff added. I also made a point of something I will probably do with the next release if I can get more suggestions/ideas in to make it worth wild release.

I think you have done some amazing work on this dread and it is good that you have continued to improve upon it and whats more to keep it as it should be "open source".
