Gaming · EA To Remove DRM From Games !!

Posted on Sunday, April 05, 2009 @ 02:09 by admin

At last it seems EA (Electronic Arts) have seen the light with regards to the DRM (Digital Rights Management) and have decided to announce a tool to remove it from there 2008 and onwards games !

DRM for gamers has been a sore subject, in most cases it was a method that was seen to punish the general gamer that didn't even understand what DRM was or how the games companies tried to keep it quite for so long that it was "hidden" on the products.

In contrast though many people know that DRM is not effective, and that it was not the solution to prevent games from being illegally converted for the wrong reasons, I hope that other games companies follow suite and remove DRM from there titles too... The only downside to this is what next !! What are they going to do to try and prevent there games from ending up in the wrong hands...

A typical example was embarrassing for Ubisoft recently when illegal versions of there Farcry 2 were released 48hrs earlier on warez sites even before the game was officially released to the public >> Source <<

The other sad fact is that Crytek announced that they are dropping the PC games industry and moving to console games only and does not support piracy !! >> Source << which is very sad indeed for PC gamers, but a fact of life that solving the problem is harder than people think !

If you want to unlock your EA games the link is on there Game Authorisation Management area

Have your say, what do you think ?
